Best site or software to list movies and find out how many versions there are

I'm curious to find out what is the best website (or even software) where I can list my movie collection and also find out how many other versions of the film there are, like if there is a steelbook, ultimate 5 disc edition, etc. I'm really interested in the behind the scenes sort of stuff for movies, so I'm trying to make sure I have the best copies for those films. Thanks!

At the top of this forum.

I've used DVDAficionado myself for years.

I've tried Wiki and at least for the older releases, it isn't too good.

It really depends on the title. It's very hit and miss as far as that goes, but sometimes it will surprise you.

My first thought was the previously mentioned dvdcompare.net. Maybe DVD Beaver, but that will depend a lot on the title.

I usually hit Amazon first, since reviews can be useful.

I also try dvdcompare but if there's a case where all the US releases are tied, they don't go to much in detail between any differences. If that's the case, then I go to wikipedia. Most of the time I'm not this stuck but when I've had to go there, it's been useful.

Yeah, I've tried DVDcompare too, but sometimes they are a bit off I found out. Really good, but there's been a few times where they don't mention a blu-ray title. Amazon would be a good one. I'll try the other ones as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

Bluray.com has DVDs listed too if you select the DVD link at the top of the site before searching.

The iOS version of DVDProfiler just had it's first price drop; now $4.99 in the appstore.

I haven't used it yet; but we had a full discussion of it in a Challenge thread a couple weeks ago. Either Comedy or TV I think.

I'm still a little bent out of shape about it, unless their section is accessible somewhere on DVD Beaver's site. I used DVD compare for a ton of stuff. I thought DVD Beaver stopped doing their comparisons too? I wish they'd have put up a notice on the sire or something, although maybe I just wasn't paying attention. Does DVD Beaver have a forum?

EDIT: Sort of found DVDcompare's thing, but its whole setup is completely changed. Kind of surprised, they were an all-text site more or less, whereas DVD Beaver uses ungodly amounts of bandwidth, must be expensive as hell to maintain. Frustrating as hell on my end.

Re: Best site or software to list movies and find out how many versions there are

If you're referring to this on DVD Beaver's site, I don't think it's the same thing. I just searched for a movie that I contributed to DVDCompare.net and it isn't at DVD Beaver's DVD Compare.
EDIT: Yeah, that was originally DVD-Compare.com which has apparently been part of DVD Beaver since at least 2005 (archive link)

That stinks. All they do is show pictures comparing the movies. What about the list of features on each edition ?

So, what happened to dvdcompare.net? The domain name is apparently available.

DVDcompare was still going strong just a couple of days ago, but it appears someone let the domain name lapse or stopped paying the hosting bills. It's a brutal loss for collectors if all that information is gone.

Now they mentioned on their twitter that they spoke too soon and it might not be back until the 6th.

They may have spoken too soon even with that, hopefully they aren't gone for good.
