I contributed to the totals of two movies this week: Breaking Dawn 2 (my wife and I) and Wreck It Ralph (my wife and I and our five kids).
Good time at the movies recently.

I don't remember historical box office numbers that well, but is that pretty good for Thanksgiving weekend? Seems like those are some decent numbers for the top 7 or 8 movies altogether.

The all-time record is Thanksgiving 2009, $258.6M. This weekend will apparently surpass that.

Ah, tis the season. That's a really good looking top ten (though I have zero interest in Twilight). Anyone else feel better this time of the year? There's plenty of movies to see, and more to look forward to.

Yeah I do feel better. I've seen 8 of the top 10, and enjoyed most of them, but Rise of the Guardians was just okay. I have no interest in Red Dawn or Twilight...definitely looking forward to the next few weeks, but I also want to see Life of Pi again.

I'll say that the supporting cast is great. Chris Tucker needs to be in more stuff, and this shows he can tone it down as well. Training montage runs a bit long, and they way the stakes are raised is funny but silly but I'd recommend it overall.

Re: Weekend Box Office 11/21 - 11/25 - 2012 Overstuffed Edition
It takes your run of the mill rom-com cliches and incorporates them into a story that feels fresh and original with a really smart script, steady direction and some extremely good performances from Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence... plus, De Niro hasn't been this good in years. If you're looking for a date night movie that won't be insufferable, this is it. Moviegoers NEED to reward quality so that we get more of it
