Eastwood supported Republicans this election. But I think he's more of an independent who moves back and forth.
I'll add John Milius. For those who don't "get it", John Goodman's character in The Big Lebowski was an exaggerated ode to Milius.

And I assume that Michael Bay is a Republican. But I think he's too smart and his PR is too healthy to open himself up to criticism about his politics.

I seem to recall Ed Wood coming out for Eisenhower.

Though I'm not someone who obsesses over the political affiliations of entertainers, I seem to remember reading something about David Mamet being a hardcore republican a while back.
Though I don't if if he's actually a "good" director, as he's primarily a writer and his resume as a director is sort of thin.

I assume the various directors of Christian movies like Left Behind and such are all republicans. I haven't seen any of those movies so I cannot comment on how good they are.

John Wayne...though...I've never seen anything else from him except The Alamo when it comes to direction. And I saw that as a kid. I just remember it being very inaccurate as we watched it for some reference of visual in our Texas History class. Inaccurate but fun, my Texas History was an awesome big old Texan man who loved John Wayne.

I have seen a few of those; I didn't look him up on IMDB before I posted and it's easier to remember what he's written than what he's directed. I didn't think he directed his most prominent scripts like Glengarry Glen Ross.

(I think he uses some very flawed reasoning in it)

John Ford is a complex one---I think he was an old-school FDR type Democrat who definitely had sympathies for the working class and antipathy towards the ruling elites, and some progressive ideas about race relations, but I think the post-WWII leftward drift of the party didn't jibe with him.

I would consider Mel Gibson to be a good director.
I saw William Friedkin on a list of "Republican celebrities," but I haven't found anything to back that up. The same list had David Lynch, who seems to be more of an independent.
