Blu-Ray player upgrade question
I currently have a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray player I purchased in 2008. The player does not have wireless Wi-Fi nor does it have any streaming options.
My question is has the technology improved so that image quality for Blu-Ray disc playback is better than on the Sony BDP-S350 from 2008? If the image quality has improved I'd upgrade the player to one with Wi-Fi/Netflix streaming. Otherwise I'll just go Roku, as my Sony BDP still works fine.

Re: Blu-Ray player upgrade question
If nothing else I enjoy the ability of my newer Panasonic blu-ray player to go from insert blu-ray to play in a very short amount of time!

I really don't think you'd notice much difference in picture quality. Other than 3D, there really haven't been any changes to the blu-ray format itself.
The players however, are much, much better than they were in 2008. A few things you'd get with a 2012 model besides streaming would be faster loading, & 3D and SACD support, if those things are important to you. I really like that Sony added support for the NTSF format via USB this year too. I'm happy that I can now hook up an external hard drive & am not limited to FAT32's 4GB max.
I recently upgraded from a 2010 BDP-S570 to a 2012 BDP-S590 & even from that recent the improvements in the player are huge.
