Castle -- "The Final Frontier" -- 11/05/12
Synopsis:
The Final Frontier" - When a body is found at a sci-fi convention, Castle and Beckett are warped into the heart of fandom -- a world of egotistic celebrities, diehard costumed fans and enough drama for two galaxies, on "Castle," MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Armin Shimerman ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), Ed Quinn ("Eureka"), Christina Moore ("True Blood"), Erin Way ("Alphas") and Chris McKenna ("One Life to Live") guest star in this episode, which is directed by Jonathan Frakes ("Star Trek: The Next Generation").

Captain Max - Captain Mal
Chloe - Zoë
Creavers - Reavers
A guy who looks a bit like Alan Tudyk
A canceled 10 year old show that only aired 12 episodes
Frakes and Shimerman cameos
Frickin' Shatner singing
awesome!

I like how Castle said something to the effect of "oh how far he's fallen" or something after he ran off.

That was awesome. Total tribute to science fiction fans and geeks.
at the Jonathan Frakes cameo. It was a total blink and you would miss him thing.
at Castle's comment about that Joss Whedon show. And I loved hearing Bill Shatner singing at the end.
Considering how dark last week's episode was, it was nice to have a fun and quirky episode.

This was my favorite ep of the show for all the reasons mentioned above.
BTW if you haven't heard the Shatner it's called "Has Been" and is fantastic.

It may have been a great episode for geeks, but it didn't do so well for the public at large. According to TVLine, Castle ratings were a series low.

I don't know if 1.9 is considered respectable or not but maybe Castle would do better on another night? I hope it gets more seasons, it's my favorite network show. This show was a hell of a lot of fun especially the end. And Alexis....damn!

This was such a great episode! I loved Castle's Kirt impression when he and Beckett were talking about the phaser, and his Picard impression when he was sitting in the Captain's chair.

Looking at the viewership on wikipedia, Castle seems to have a floor of 10 million viewers per episode. Last week was dark, this week was hammy, hopefully next week the show is back to hitting its stride.
I enjoyed this week's show and last's, by the way, but "Murder, He Wrote" was a lot more fun, and coincidentally an extra 900,000 people watched it over "The Final Frontier".

And Spock Jenkins, in case you were wondering.

That was fucking awesome. So many nods to all those sci fi shows. Castle doing all the captains voices was awesome.
And Alexis dressed up.

That was awesomely hilarious. I completely missed Frakes' cameo. All of the sci-fi shout-outs were fun and geeky.
