God, I really want this one. I was hoping to save up enough trade-in credit before it went on sale, but I just blew through all of that on the Marketplace seller who had those $1 blu-rays.
Tax really hurts the deal for me, though. It would be nearly $300 delivered. I know it's a ton of content, but $250 is more in line with what I was hoping to pay.

Can't.
Say.
No.
So glad I never bought the individual sets. This may still go lower but I'm good with this price compared to what I would have spent if I had started the sets.

131 DVDs with all 1,225 Complete Episodes ... 470 hours ... If one spent 8 hrs a day, it would take almost 2 months to watch all of the episodes.

Great deal. I picked up the limited edition last March for $362.
My wife and I have been watching three to five episodes every other night since we received it. We are up to episode 470. I'm predicting we will be done sometime next Agust.

Any chance these have subtitles? [I don't recall the original MPI's having them, so not really expecting it.] --Peter

Shit. I barely remember this show, but I kind of want to buy it just for the sheer amount of watching it would take. Challenge!

We like it a lot.
I was already familar with the Soap Opera approach to things from my college days in the early 80's when General Hospital was the craze. So you are dealing primarily with sets, a bit of overly dramatic acting at times, limited effects, and the facial looks and increased music intensity at commercial breaks. In addition, the mistakes from time to time (most shots were done in one take).
But it also has that way of pulling you in with twists and turns that keeps you coming back, multiple plotlines going on at once with some lasting 100+ episodes to get to completion (we couldn't imagine watching only one a day as originally broadcast). Add into that the supernatural, timeshifts, and gothic nature, and if you are a fan of that sort of thing, it is a clear winner.
Now the first 200 and some episodes are b/w, which i liked with the gothic nature, but some don't get into that. The switch to color was fine once you saw a few episodes to get use to it. Another thing is that while gothic looking from the beginning the supernatural aspects took time to get going before they became a standard part of the show. When originally released in sets they started 200+ episodes in to get right to Barnabas. Personally, I think it is best to start from the beginning.
So we have become big fans.

I don't have anything else better to do. Plus, the horror challenge is currently going on for those looking for something to fill in the cracks between films.

I never checked, but they appear to be the same content as the original releases. The disks have a new generic look on the top, but all the menus match the various changes that went along with the original releases. So i don't think any changes were made in the authoring, but i could be wrong.

If you think about it, we've been through probably four major and several other minor story lines in the 470 episodes. That's like 14 seasons for a show back then or up to 21 seasons for a show of today. There have been a few nights we watched 8 to 10 straight episodes so that we could get to the climax of a story.
But it is a lot of money to find out you don't like it, even with a single day deal.

I'd love to get this, but this is a bad time financially and I just can't swing it at the moment.

I'm near to halfway done with the series, watching it for the first time. I have had my episode marathons, but now it's slowed to once a weekday just as it aired. It tends to dwindle down when they are dragging story lines that were ill advised from the start. I love Barnabas, but still enjoy the first 200 gothic episodes best.

Just think of how much fun it will be the third time viewing the discs.
On the other hand, if you have a rechargeable generator, this set could keep you occupied until the nuclear fallout subsides enough to come back above ground.

In addition, the packaging is well thought out to protect the contents. There really isn't a concern with who you buy from because they are all provided with the same sturdy box from the source.

The only other set I own that's more massive and impressive than this, is the huge Harry Potter box set. Trouble comes from finding a place to keep them. Right now they've both on top of a bookshelf. I don't have any other place for them.

It is probably the most impressive set in my collection. And very sturdy too, unlike some sets that look good in pictures but are actually flimsy cardboard.

Agree on how impressive the package design is. At first I was amazed at the size of this set. Then I started thinking about how many discs were in this and then realized how compact it really is for the sheer number of discs. And soon the movies!!

I never saw the show growing up but I have always wanted to give it a whirl. Is it more of a nostalgia thing for people or is it an honest to goodness good show? I hate to make a $270 blind buy mistake. But the price and temptation to check it out feels hard to pass up.
