Comic books/characters you wish would be adapted into films?

I've always wondered why a good Sandman movie has never been made. I know scripts were circling around at some point, but nothing materialized.

What are some others that you wish had movies?

Someone needs to make a movie about me. They just started publishing my comic again after a long period of inactivity.

Especially if he were allowed to set it in the 70s...good god would that thing be amazing.

I honestly couldn't imagine who could handle that material in a condense form. Maybe Gaiman could do it for the script...but who could direct it and under what kind of budget would it be able to breathe?

It was The Dark Knight Returns for me, but The Dark Knight Rises was close enough. Now it's Ultimates II.
Spoiler:
Thor in a 12 Monkeys type is he crazy or sane type plot? Captain Iran? Hawkeye as a compelling character? That'd be good as shit.

Oh I read this wrong, Harbinger.

Re: Comic books/characters you wish would be adapted into films?

Slight cheat, but I wish there had been more Star Wars movies along the lines of the stories done in the original 70's/80's Star Wars comics. That was some weird/awesome stuff in those books.

And along those lines, the Dark Empire trilogy would make an awesome animated film.
