As for the older films, I have watched several of the older ones like Dracula and Frankenstein-mainly the classics but they're not my favorites either. I'd say my taste runs more into the family/kid type Halloween horror films-the ones that aren't really horror. I do have Nosferatu and Bram Stoker's Dracula, but that about covers it. I do like Bruce Campbell movies-cheesy without being too scary. But mainly I watch more movies like ones from the Disney channel or Hocus Pocus or one of my favorites-Nightmare Before Christmas. (though, the question remains-is it a Halloween story about Christmas or a Christmas story about Halloween?)

But it sounds like I could focus on more Halloween type episodes-love the Simpsons Halloween of Terror epis and the Roseanne ones as well. I may do a checklist or not, but if I do one, it'll be one I came up with-I know I wouldn't get very far on the comprehensive one you've all come up with! Thanks again for all the suggestions!
Watch the Halloween special of Wishbone, it's a pretty good family friendly Halloween themed show. Really sets the mood for the season. It's available on Youtube

Twins of Evil (1972) (New BR from Synapse)

Taste of Fear (1961)

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

The pending NHL lockout this season could help things along this year. Even if they just cancel the first month of games would greatly improve on my score for this year as the season, if you don't already know, starts every October. The fact that the season starts in October has cut into my score every passing year but here's hoping for a opening month shutdown. I'm a NHL hockey fan, but I would welcome a first month stoppage of games just for the sake of the Horror Challenge.

If anyone's looking for more horror, The Twisted Terror Collection is only $18.18 at Amazon(it's a marketplace seller fulfilled by Amazon), $11.92 if you want to go through the marketplace. This 6 movie set includes:

Eyes of a Stranger
Deadly Friend
From Beyond the Grave
Someone's Watching Me!
Dr. Giggles
The Hand

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

It's much cheaper than getting them individually.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

^You did it again!

I've been eying From Beyond the Grave (included in that set) for a while. The *single* DVD of that one title sells for only a buck or two less than the mentioned set and is OOP. Outside of overstock vendors it's now only available as a MOD title. Considering the price and extra titles for only a couple of $$ extra I caved...

I was in Big Lots last night and found a sole copy of The Omen 2 Disk CE for $2.88 and since I've never seen it...

If I'm not careful I'll have purchased enough new Horror titles that my plans to watch the Universal Horror films in order is in danger of falling through...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

My oldest daughter was watching A Haunting in our theater room, got scared and stopped watching. She says she always hears noises of things moving around and when she turns the lights on, it all stops. The second she turns the lights off, it starts up again. Apparently it's always been going on and she used to force the cat to go in with her when she wanted to watch or get something to watch downstairs. I tried offering her House to watch, the movie not the TV show but she ended up going with Rifftrax: The Crater Lake Monster.

For reference, this is what surrounds viewers in the room

It's also the only DVD that I know of that's offered "Engrish" as a subtitle option (Engrish being the original H.K. subtitle track).

My wife loves that show, I simply tolerate it. At least it's not Grey's Anatomy, or something like that. Thank god she doesn't like Sex and the City. I think she watched one or two episodes before giving up on that.

One thing that might be making the noise is a little one foot tall door that's hidden behind some of the dvd shelves. The wife of the guy that built the house was mildly allergic to cats and they had one. So the guy made a habitat, for lack of a better word, for the cat upstairs. The closet of the master bedroom has the matching door, so the cat could hang out in the theater room and when it wanted to go outside, it'd go through the door, passing through the pathway behind the walls to the door in the closet. The bathroom has a pet door in the screen and there's a platform for the cat to lay on, or under. There's also a log for it to scratch and there used to be a board that went from the roof down to the fence, so it could pretty much come and go as it pleased, without bothering her.

I just have a box pressed up against it but if it's windy outside, it has a little bit of room to open and close, making some noise. I just haven't been bothered to wedge something in it to keep it closed better.

I told her about the little hidden door this morning but that didn't seem to make her feel any better. She hasn't seen Cat's Eye yet, otherwise I'm sure she'd picture the guy from there coming out.

What happened to all the gialli on Netflix? I was looking up films to queue for October, and virtually every giallo that was on the watch list last year is gone. This is why I buy physical media and don't rely on streaming.

Ilsa came back in print earlier this year but it's put out by Cheezy Flicks.

I like that Leech Woman and the Halloween Pinhead but I only bought the ones that Big Lots had for sale. Of course there was no Blade, just the Retro version.

About a decade ago. It was a huge section too, from the ground to about the ceiling. I just picked up one of each.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/3

Around this time I begin to ignore reviews and see all the horror releases i can....so far started on a bad note with Apparition.

A few are UK imports - the Hammer films (all region B), the Basket Case trilogy (region free), and Hitchcock's The Lodger (region B). I also didn't include upcoming double-dips on They Live, Halloween II, and The Funhouse.
