I am debating between this the Pioneer 434 or the 333. The 434 has Progressive Scan capabilities and the 333 don't. I don't have a digital TV w/ progressive scan so I can't take advantage of the 434. However, I plan on upgrading to one someday. Has anyone compared teh 434 to the 333 side by side?

Opinions?

Have you noticed that the Pioneer 434 is much less in price then the other Progressive Scan DVD Players? Well there's a good reason for that! The Pioneer 434 is not a true Progressive Scan DVD player! All it is is a DVD player with a Line doubler built-in, and since all the TV's that can display Progressive Scan sources already have a line doubler you can see how truely useless this DVD player is! It can notdo 3/2 pull down that is essential to be considered a true Progressive Scan DVD player and produce the incredible picture that all expect from a Progressive Scan DVD player. Just do a search on the other Home Theater forums and you will see post after post reflecting the negative performance of this DVD(progressively).

Your best bet at this time is to just buy a good Interlaced DVD player now and when you get a HDTV later you can buy a Progressive Scan DVD player then at much less a price and most likely with much better features then are available now.

I seen one of these (DV434) hooked up to an RCA F38310 (16x9 38" direct view) playing Disney's Tarzan and it was gorgeous.
