I really liked the first episode and am hoping the show continues to bring that type of quality for the whole season.

Reviews have said the show went downhill after the first episode (I think the first 3 or 4 were provided as screeners to the media)

Yeah, I know I read that too. I don't normally put much stock into reviews though and try and form my own opinion on shows. Plus in this case I sort of wonder if it's because the pilot was above expectations and with it being a Sorkin show that reviewers may be more hard on it if it's not exactly perfection.

What some cranky 40-50 something year old TV columnist thinks is good or bad TV isn't necessarily what the general public thinks. It's interesting to read what they think, but in the end you need to be the judge.

I enjoyed the pilot. I'm looking foward to seeing how it holds up as an ongoing series.

I loved it too. It does feel like that if it were a network tv show, the relationship sideplots would prob get cut for time.
I got a kick too that we got a signature Sorkin walk and talk scene too! (outside between Will and one of his coworkers

I'm glad they've done enough research to know that people in TV don't make shit income-wise, and the post show bar hangout is accurate.

I like the show and the premise. The one problem I have with Sorkin is that everyone has a witty comeback the moment they need one. You can tell its a memorized script not a naturally flowing conversation.

Still in like Will. I could've done with a little more toned down Mackenzie breakdown scene. love all the rapid fire dialogue.
Anybody keeping track of past Sorkinisms that are getting recycled in this one?
The one I got tonight was "Muhammad el Muhammad bin Bezir" from WW S4 E2 "20 Hours in America Part 2".

I realized that Veep does everything this show does, except funnier and without the preaches.

Are you saying she sucked because of previous opinions...or you really think she sucked in this? She was in essentially one scene and I didnt think it was that bad. Maybe I'm just blinded from seeing her tits this weekend in Magic Mike. But honestly...She wasnt that bad in that either...or this. Time will tell with more scenes

I thought it was a pretty solid 2nd week.
Munn's character was basically just an introduction, so it's too early to tell with her.
The thing that was a little annoying was Mac's little meltdown after sending the e-mail to the entire News Night staff. That whole scene and her and Will screaming at each other went on a little too long. Yeah we get it, they banged each other in the past and it didn't end well.
As Chuck just said, I am glad that they made some references to how lower end TV production people don't make good money and struggle. Being an Associate Producer is not a glamorous job at all. I thought it was funny that Maggie said 3 paychecks go into paying her 1 month's rent. That really sucks, but understandable if your living in NYC.
BTW, I loved Will's talkback with those 3 idiots. That was hilarious.
They are pretty spot on with after having a shitty show, it kills the morale of the news room. I've been involved with quite a few shitty broadcasts in the past and it lingers in everyone's minds for days sometimes.

I had to at the "I don't know how to send emails to just one person and not the whole company" plot.

I loved this episode and didn't think there was a drop in quality at all. My only complaint was the bit where she couldn't figure out the email system. Who can't use outlook?

Yeah, when they made a point of talking about the email system early in the show and they made a point of showing how McKenzie didn't understand it, it was obvious that would become a plot point later. Very obvious "telegraphing" there, worthy of an eyeroll.
Munn was okay. Her biggest problem from the point of a broadcaster/actress? When reading from a teleprompter or acting lines, she always talks too quickly and slurs or drops syllables as she speaks. It wasn't a big problem on AOTS where her main value was in her unscripted personality. But her poor delivery of lines was one of the reasons she tanked on The Daily Show, and I noticed a little bit of it last night on this show. I will say that she seems to have improved, but she still needs work.

I freakin' love this show...it makes TRUE BLOOD look like it's written by third-graders. Anyone know if Sorkin is writing EVERY episode? Beacause the first two have been so bloody good, I don't want anyone else writing the scripts.

Not sure how accurate IMDB.com is, but they list 2 writers for next week's episode, one being Sorkin.
