Buying a new TV... Lines of resolution?

My trusty 11 year old Mitsubishi bit the dust last week so I'm looking for a new set. I was really hoping for this set to last until the HDTVs come down to attainable prices but this ins not to be.

The TV room is small so I'll go with a reasonably priced 27" set. It has been some time (11 years) since I've had to look for a new set and I'm a little confused by the specs.

I've narrowed my choice down to the JVC 27D201 ($350) with the following features:

2 line digital comb filter (I know what this is)
Component Video Input (for my DVD)
700 lines of horizontal resolution???

Excuse me? 700 lines? What good is this with broadcast signals? Or for that matter with DVD? Am I missing something here?

The JVC seems to be the best low priced 27" set. Any opinions here?

I'm not entirely certain, but they may be pulling a marketing trick.

I think standard resolution for broadcast is 700 line Horizontal, and 240(?) Vertical. In other words, all tv's can do 700 Horizontal. Of course I may be wrong about these resolutions, but this seems to explain things.
