Writer/Director Nora Ephron reportedly close to death (Cancer)
http://movieline.com/2012/06/26/nora...-smith-eulogy/
While official confirmation has yet to be reported, columnist Liz Smith eulogizes friend and filmmaker Nora Ephron, writer and director of films including Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and 2009's Julie & Julia. "People who never dreamed she was ill, are crestfallen. Amazed. Stunned," Smith writes. "I won’t say, “Rest in peace, Nora” – I will just ask “What the hell will we do without you?"
Meanwhile, advice columnist Margo Howard, who also writes for the online publication The Women on the Web, where Smith's remembrance appeared today, Tweeted the news citing Smith as her source:
Margo Howard@Margoandhow
Well, to those of you who can't find the news of Nora Ephron's death, the funeral is Thursday - and maybe that's the way she wanted it.
Contradicting the odd announcements, the New York Times contacted Ephron's publisher, Knopf, who said she has not died:
Julie Bosman@juliebosman
Nora Ephron's publisher, Knopf, tells the NYT that she is still alive.
UPDATE: Newsweek/Daily Beast reporter MariaElena Fernandez chimed through the confusion, adding that Ephron, who is battling cancer, is alive but near death.

Nora Ephron news is not a hoax but she has not passed away. She is not expected to make it through tonight. This is the truth.

Dang. Not a fan of her work but the fact that she supposedly not make through the night and we know that is kind of creepy.

I didn't realize she was 71, as the first thing I remember from her was When Harry Met Sally. Of course she wrote scripts before that one.
I kinda like some of her work, like WHMS and Sleepless... but she had her share of misfires as well. RIP.

all the bullshit aside, When Harry Met Sally is a great movie, with some real genuine insight into the sexes. if this story is true, then I hope she goes peacefully and with dignity.

I liked some of her work. When Harry Met Sally is great, as is Silkwood. I had completely forgotten she had written that one until I looked her up. I also remember enjoying My Blue Heaven back in the day.

She made the only "rom coms" I've ever felt are worth watching.
Very sad story.

Before I found her movies, women only made me cry through my penis. Now they make me cry through my eyes.
RIP.

I loved You've Got Mail even though I still don't buy Meg Ryan's character would have fallen in love with Tom Hanks' character given he put her dead mother's store out of business. RIP.
