Easy Money (Dir: Daniel Espinosa)

Originally released in Sweden in 2010, US is now getting it this year. Director did Safe House after this. WB holds the remake rights to this film too...so we may get a remake here at some point.

EASY MONEY is a Swedish crime thriller based on the international best-selling novel Snabba Cash by Jens Lapidus. Lower-class business student JW (Joel Kinnaman from AMC's 'The Killing') falls in love with a sexy heiress while living a double life mingling with Stockholm's wealthy elite. To keep up the facade of his lifestyle, he's lured into a world of crime. Jorge is a petty fugitive on the run from both the police and Serbian mafia. He hopes that brokering a massive cocaine deal will allow him to escape for good. Mafia enforcer Mrado is on the hunt for Jorge, but his efforts are complicated when he's unexpectedly saddled with caring for his young daughter. As JW's journey ventures deeper into the dark world of organized crime, the fate of all three men becomes entangled and ends with a dramatic struggle for life and death.

Judging by the title I thought it was a remake of Rodney Dangerfield's movie.

Yeah, looks good. It's known as Snabba Cash (or something similar) in Sweden. I think the Blu-ray is available in foreign markets. Here's hoping they don't dub the shit out of this one for American audiences.

That lead Swedish dude sure is handsome. But when does Joel Kinnaman show up?

I thought this was about a Katherine Heigel movie.

Never heard of it.

But seriously folks... this is a fantastic film. A great crime movie filled with solid performances, and I can't wait for the sequel which is due out this year. No surprise Scorsese is releasing it here, it's a very good film. I'm glad he didn't decide to make a piss poor, watered down remake of it with a stellar cast this time, and just released the superior foreign film.

It's also no surprise to me, after seeing his terrific performance in this, that Joel Kinnaman has been showing up in mainstream US films and TV shows.
