I have seen several comments that suggest that the film is much more of a drama than a romcom, despite how the trailer was cut.

Looks like it could be pretty good, but the sparse number of initial reviews have not been wonderful.

Oddly enough, it doesn't look half bad - (although Elijah Wood's inclusion in anything is terrible).

I'm looking forward to this as its eerily similar to the ex wife and I... Interesting in seeing how its done.

Huh? Did Elijah Wood shit in your hair or something?

i like Jones. could be pretty good if it goes all the way, though one could fear it falls into cliche trappings.

He's just mad because Elijah's not in the new Spider-man.

Ive had this script in my to read file forever. I could never get into it. Rashida Jones co-wrote it.

Aside from your personal feel on it. Was it a good script?

Just not a fan of the acting.

I think I only read like the first 10 pages, it just wasn't a very original story. I couldn't get into it. The script was bought quickly and likely because Rashida Jones was tied to it.

Saw it tonight. I loved it! Jones carries the movie, which is by turns funny, sad, and cathartic. It manages to avoid a lot of rom-com cliches and every character feels well developed. I highly recommend it. I might even drag some people to it. Really, really good.

Good movie, the anti-(500) Days of Summer.

Probably why I liked it so much.

That makes me a bit more interested, never understood the acclaim for 500 Days of Summer. Well made with some nifty visuals but a tremendously dull movie, surprising considering how relateable the situation was.

I think that's the big difference between the two. This movie carried more humor (that didn't feel forced), where 500DoS didn't have any.

I absolutely loved 500 Days of Summer, so i'm curious how much of the opposite this is. :(

It's the opposite in that:

It's from the woman's perspective.
Both the man and the woman are portrayed as real people, not caricatures.
There are no filmmaking gimmicks.
It's actually good. :D

Well that's disappointing

This just came out here and it's probably my favorite indie romance of the year. Even the score was good. Much better than the other Chris Messina–supported film (the one with Paul Dano).

I thought this movie was entirely forgettable. I was let down.

I didn't think much of it when I finally saw it. Rashida Jones was fantastic though; I don't think i've seen her take a more dramatic role in this kind of movie, as it seems like she's just typically just in supporting "significant other" roles without much to do. She carries the emotional weight really well in the middle of the movie, although I thought it kind of sputters to the end when it hits that low point for her. I don't think Samberg was right to play opposite of her; he was fine when they were together joking around, but didn't care for him otherwise. And I didn't care much for the story involving Emma Roberts either.
