SLIPKNOT: "Antennas To Hell" [Best Of] -7/24/12

Slipknot Prep 'Antennas to Hell' Hits Album

After two decades of Grammy winning work, heavy metal band Slipknot will release "Antennas to Hell," a best-of collection that includes such hits as "Spit It Out" and "Left Behind," on July 24.

According to drummer Joey Jordison, "when we get together, something monstrous happens and we pull this amazing sound out of all that energy."

A continually evolving band that has lost and gained musicians over the years, Slipknot will include career spanning hits on the best-of compilation that also promises rare, behind the scenes footage of the group at its shows.

The band, one of the most recognizable names in the pantheon of elite heavy metal bands, will also include a DVD of its performance at 2009's Download Festival in Donington Park, England.

Slipknot's most recent release, "All Hope Is Gone," reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Rock, and Alternative Charts.

Funny, I was just thinking about them today. I haven't listened to them in quite some time and was wondering if they had any new material coming out.

Re: SLIPKNOT: "Antennas To Hell" [Best Of] -7/24/12

I'll always give anything Slipknot does a listen. This was the band that got me into metal when i really didn't listen to music of my own, only listened to what my Mom played in the cassette player. While i didn't care for their third album, my acceptance of their softer sound let me enjoy the fourth album a little more. Nothing though has ever compared for me to those first two albums. I still play them regularly.

Unfortunately i dont know how long the band has left. I have to imagine keeping 9(now 8) people together as a band when bands with 4-5 members break up all the time is tough. Each member i believe is involved in other groups, sometimes 2 or 3. Plus it sounds like Cory wants to keep taking the band in a more Stone Sour direction while Joey and Shawn want to go back to the sound of the first two albums. I read Joey go as far to say they could move forward with someone else in front of the band. Not sure but i hope to catch them at least one more time before they call it quits.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Typical picks, fan faves, useless remix, live tracks... all the staples of a studio-mandated GH album.

Just go make a new one instead.

You know metal threads are slow when gerry has to respond to his own posts.

Hopefully they will release the 3rd disc (DVD) separately at some point instead of just with the $99 super duper package...

Re: SLIPKNOT: "Antennas To Hell" [Best Of] -7/24/12

I'm a bit confused here...

There is a greatest hits CD.

Then a bonus CD of the 2009 Download concert (which has been previously released on DVD, and coming out on blu-ray next week). Or is it the pre-existing DVD that's being included?

And then there's a third disc that is DVD of all of their videos and some other content?

I've been reading contradictory information about what is included in which edition.

Yes there is the single CD edition, the deluxe CD edition with the 2009 Download concert and then a collector's edition that included the two CDs plus a DVD with all the Slipknot videos plus some new clips directed by M. Shawn Crahan.

I have not seen this version listed at either Amazon or Best Buy and when until searching tonight I could only find it in the merch pre-order bundle that they wanted $99 bucks for. At least $24.99 is more reasonable.

Clown directed videos suck. Not music videos, but his tour or "documentry" stuff sucks. He's like a film school student on acid. God I wish they would make another record like the first.
