While I've been pretty quiet about it, in addition to being a huge fan of classic film, I am also an overstock dealer.
I see there are some for sale posts here. My 14 year old business is dieing & the need for $'s is getting pretty desperate.
Do members tend to get offended by for sale posts from retailers in DVD Exchange?
If the consensus is that it's acceptable, I will follow up; if not I won't go there as i really enjoy being part of the community here.
addition:
After I wrote the above, i read in the faq, "The DVD Exchange Forum is not designed to be a place for people to "open shop" to DVD Talk members, so please do not try, as your thread and account may be closed."
I'm leaving this thread open for now (unless a mod closes it) as it does seem like a couple other members are doing this; so I am open to feedback.

Personally I have no problems with it, but I'm not a moderator either.
Having said this, it seems like part of being a community is buying from other community members regardless of whether they're an overstock retailer or not. If someone has product I want and am willing to pay or trade for, I don't really care if they do it as a business or as a hobby as long as the product is satisfactory upon receipt and I'm dealt with in a fair manner.

Wouldn't bother me. I don't see why it would be a problem or any different from other people selling as long as you weren't posting about it in other areas of the board. I wouldn't mind seeing a list of what you have.

I would think the rule is in place to prevent folks from signing up just to run a webstore in the forum. But you're "you", a longtime member and regular contributor. As long as you keep it confined to one thread, I don't think it would be an issue.

This would not bother me either. I would love to see what you have available. Being a long time member, I really don't see this as an issue.

Thank you to all who replied! I'll wait a couple more days, & if there are no dissenting point of views, I'll start with a clearance list, since we're all into bargains here.

I don't see a problem in it either just as long as everything you sell is real and not copies good luck .I only have Walmart where I live so I look for deals that I can't get anywhere else .

That'll likely be my last step before proceeding. I don't THINK I personally know any of the mods. Any suggestions on who to ask?

Yeah, Mao seems like the moderator who has the most interaction with this part of the forum.

All, when trying to PM MAO, I get the following message,
"Mao has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
If you are trying to send this message to multiple recipients, remove Mao from the recipient list and send the message again."
Any suggestions?

Believe you can disable PMs, and it appears that's the case. Can you e-mail him through the forum, or does he have that option turned off as well?

Sorry about my communication preferences...I just don't always look at tiny corner of the PMs and prefer good old fashioned e-mail notification.
I am completely okay with this as long as you set realistic pricing and treat our members as the special people they are. :)
Please follow the forum guidelines and you'll be okay....and thanks for checking on this first!
Good luck!

Thanks again to all who replied & thank you for allowing me to do this! Does anyone know if there's a way for me or a mod to re-title the thread since it was wisely suggested I keep to this one thread?
Here's the clearance list. All titles are $3 + shipping. If they are new, in most cases it will say something like "new" or "sealed". Otherwise they are used. Most used DVD's will be scratch free (I'm pretty picky about scratches).
This is a batch of titles I pulled off ebay; the titles used below were the titles of the ebay listings. Note that cutouts (slashed cases) will in most cases likely not be id'd, please ask if that's important to you.
I also don't have quantities in stock available as part of the list; again feel free to ask as i have multiples of many titles. And yes, some of these are old Big Lots titles! :D
On regular priced stuff I offer free USA ship @ $50, I can't do it on the clearance stuff.
USA Shipping is $4 for the first pound, + an additional $1 per pound. At somewhere around 10 pounds that amount will go down. For those outside of the USA, I'm always glad to ship without cases. 1 DVD only would be $3.50.
Not sure what the best way to contact me is (I don't remember which email address i registered with here!). Try PM's to start, I have no clue if these offerings will be popular.
There's also tons of cd's. Complete list is here:

Since my clearance list hasn't been real successful here (LOL!), I'm going to try one other thing (& give up if there's no bites):
I'm a Roan collector. There has been a lot of talk (much by me) in the bargains forum about how Troma has ruined Roan & turned many of their releases into burned dvdr's only.
I have 14 titles of guaranteed factory pressed / factory sealed Roans available. While I usually charge more for several of the titles, all here will be $6.99 ea + shipping. USA Shipping is free with any order over $50. Otherwise, same as above: $4 first pound (including shipping box weight), than $1 per each additional pound or $3.50 for 1 dvd. International shipping also available.
Please PM to order. I do NOT charge a surcharge for Pay Pal. Number in () after the title is how many are in stock. AFAIK, this is it; I don't believe I can restock.

I lied, here's one more offer. Troma's; factory sealed discounted to $4 ea + shipping (everything in the prior two posts is also still available). I was originally selling these at $6.99-$7.99. Very low quantities (the # in stock is in ()'s after the title.) I ASSUME they're factory pressed, I've had no customer returns on this batch & I've probably sold 30 or so.

"Valkerie" (2008) This is a film about the true story of the attempted assassination of Hitler. It starred Tom Hanks and Bill Nighy.
