I enjoyed it except for letting Anson escape. I kept hoping Michael would have shot him before he attempted to apprehend him at the fence. Keeping Fiona arrested is going to make this season less entertaining.

Can't we at least get one season without the damn Burn arc?

Finally, to the new opening sequence.

I read that Matt Nix finally decided that season 6 was the right time to re-do them. I was getting tired of Michael's voice over calling Fi an Ex-girlfriend since they have been officially together for a few years. Plus, it was cool to see Jesse in it.

I liked it too. I'm glad they kept Sam's "You know spies..." line, though I thought they might get rid of Michael and his Razor phone.

I just hope they don't try to pull a melodrama move by having Fi looking at execution and Michael has to stage a rescue .

I'd like to hear Michael's 'advice' for dealing with that situation.

One thing that bugged me is why they couldn't send Dean Caine and the other guy from the season finale to backup Sam and Michael. The whole "it'll take hours to mobilize a team" excuse just didn't make much sense with two seasoned operatives available.

I'm just glad this is on during the summer or else I would most likely skip it altogether. Bruce sure seemed like he was mailing it in and the only real highlight was Mom putting two through the floor. Hopefully they'll get their mojo back as the season gets moving.

I don't think Michael wanted to trust them more than the usual hired help.

Fantastic episode, lots of emotion we rarely see. I love when Michael goes nuts and doesn't care about the consequences. Didn't care that Anson got away, Jere Burns is great, love the character. He's the new Larry. Was happy to see Bly again, he has great history with the crew. Do not care for how they handled Jesse in the new intro. He wasn't a "down on his luck spy met along the way", Michael burned him! Should be "A spy I screwed over, he shot me, now we're good"!

Re: Burn Notice -- Season Premiere -- "Scorched Earth" -- 6/14/12

Just to add more to what I said last week. Solid start to the season. Some solid acting by Donovan.

I was way behind and still had 7 episodes left over from season 5 to watch coming into this summer. I had already deleted them from the DVR months ago due to lack of space. I went ahead and bought season 5 on DVD and went through a crazy 2 day marathon to get caught up.

Anways, as I said last week awesome job re-doing the opening credits.

I know the show for the most part is self contained caper of the week plots, but I actually have really enjoyed how heavily serialized the last 7-8 episodes were with Jere Burns as the recurring villain. I'm glad they didn't wrap up his arc and that he's still a huge nemesis to Michael.

One issue I had was Fi being a little gullible to initially thinking that Michael died in that truck explosion. She should have known better that FBI guy was trying to sucker her into a confesion. Fi should know how resourceful and intelligent he is.

I don't know if it's just me, but I find Michael's CIA contact/boss really attractive. I hope she still remains a recurring character this season.

Agreed. I've liked the Anson character, but he's run his arc. He's in danger of running into "omnipotent villain" territory. It's time to ditch the burn notice storyline.

That said, this was a really entertaining episode. Loved Fi calling out the FBI agent on his bullshit.

Didn't even notice the new credits. Just a habit to FF through them. I'll have to check it out next episode.

TOTALLY agree. Enough already. I sure hope they don't drag that on all season.

Yeah, she's hot. She had a role on Grey's Anatomy a few seasons ago, and she was Jeff's professor/love interest for a few episodes of Community back in season 1.

(I can't believe I used to watch Grey's Anatomy)

I wish they given Anson's current role as the S5/S6 big baddie to Jay Karnes instead of how they ended that character's run.

Brennen was probably the only character up to this point that was evenly matched to Michael's wits.

At the point where the building blows up, there was no reason for Michael to wait since Anson didn't keep his word. He should have gone after him and then came back to check on Sam.

I was hoping since everybody knows that the building gonna. Low anyway that he would just shoot Anson right there and end the episode without knowing if Sam is dead or alive.

Re: Burn Notice -- Season Premiere -- "Scorched Earth" -- 6/14/12

I was hoping that, too, since he was so close to Anson. That a head shot would give him the split seconds needed to get to the detonator. Or not even giving Anson the opportunity when he had the jump on him. Taking him alive wouldn't have gotten Fi out.
