What's with all this fake USPS shipping?

Seriously. Like every site I order from started sticking everyone with Smartpost and Mail Innovations shit, and they don't even tell you half the time. I placed an order last week and was told I was paying for Parcel Post. Nope. FexEx Smartpost. Somebody please explain to me how it's cheaper for FedEx to ship to the post office than it is for the goddamn post office to ship to the post office in the first place? I'm really getting tired of this.

I can't explain it, but I hate it, too. Those kind of services almost always take 1-2 mailing days longer than regular USPS. Annoying.

Fedex and UPS both use the postal service for something called the Last Mile program which is your smart post type of things. It is carried by UPS/Fedex right up to its final destination region when it is then distributed to the local post offices for delivery. Usually late enough in the morning that the carriers are already on the road, so they end up getting delayed by at least a day. It may even take an extra day to sort them at the Fedex/UPS warehouses before they send them to the local post offices. I am guessing the post office doesn't make much for each parcel since it is cheaper for the Fedex/UPS to have them deliver it rather than pay one of their drivers to do it themselves.
