South Carolina advances to the super regionals by beating Clemson's ass twice this weekend. USC has now won 22 straight postseason at home, 19 straight postseason games.

I can't believe that they cut away from the broadcast of the Arkansas vs Baylor game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in a one run game. That is utter bullshit!

And Arkansas wins it on a bases loaded hit batter. Way to fuck up the broadcast ESPN. I had to quickly log on to ESPN3 to see the end. And the Gators made the CWS again after a tough battle with NC State. Go Gators!!!

Thankfully the feed on DirecTV didn't, anyhow it's amazing how it can fall apart for a team in one inning. A couple of hits, a fumbled double play ball that would won the game and series for Baylor, and back to back hits by pitches to tie and lose. But I certainly am certainly glad there's a game three.

Way to go Cats! Still a huge long shot to even play for the title, but beating the number 3 overall seed was an impressive way to start the CWS.

Wow, Arizona wins again. I certainly didn't expect this.

Do we play the winner of the elimination game from our own bracket or from the other bracket?

1 win away from playing with the Championship. Wow again.

They play the winner of the UCLA/Florida St. game. That was a hell of a game Wade threw tonight.

Well, I guess from what I hear that we have a better chance of beating one of those two teams one more time than beating the Gators.

That was some great pitching. The announcers at the regionals said that Arizona had the pitching and hitting to win, but I thought they were just saying that to be respectful of the team they were covering.

I thought we'd probably lose both games and, really, the Seminoles only had one inning that even got them into extras against us. If not for that inning, we'd have given up one run in two full games against the number 2 and number 3 ranked teams in the country.

Why did Randall leave the game after the first inning for Florida?

Why did Randall leave the game after the first inning for Florida?

Because he wussed out and supposedly got overheated. The Gators pissed away their chances this season. I have to cheer for the Hogs now.

That really surprised me when I heard it and I'm still kind of baffled by it. You'd think that it wouldn't be that difficult to win two games in the same day that it would be 60 years since it last happened.

You generally don't play 2 games in the same day in the CWS. South Carolina and Kent St. had their game rained out the day before. It had been over 30 years since the last time a team had to play twice in one day.

(Incidentally, the last year a team played twice in the same day was 1980, a year in which Arizona eliminated Florida St. en route to winning the championship).

You'd think at 42 I'd finally be calm watching my favorite sports teams and my alma mater play for championships (especially since I've seen every one of the win the big prize except for the Lions), but I still feel like my heart is pounding out of its chest.

WallyOPD
06-24-12, 08:13 PM
I'm not finding it too nerve-wracking since it won't be won or lost either way today. A win would obviously be nice as a cushion, especially if it lets Lopez opt to rest Heyer for a potential Game 3.

Hell yeah, Bear Down Arizona!

I can't stop watching ESPNU's coverage. Never get tired of Arizona winning championships in anything. I do hope the Ladycats get back to being an elite softball team.

My freshman year, my friends had to bribe me to get me to go see women's softball. It wasn't a big deal in the midwest and women's sports in general weren't what they are now. But it turned out to be a lot of fun (as was watching the Arizona club hockey games) and the sport really took off nationally. I'm really pissed that they took it out of the Olympics.

I'm still shocked that we won this and they actually made it look easy.

I am also surprised that you can be an elite baseball program and not have anyone in your bullpen that you can go to and feel good about.
