Looking for 50Hz Blu-Ray Players
I've got an LG BD550, which is fine but I'm looking to get a newer model. Went looking the other day and found LG and Samsung players that seemed okay, were affordable, but had pretty mediocre reviews (at least judging by Amazon user reviews).
Looks like Sony makes very good, affordable, and reliable low-end models, but they won't convert 50Hz->60Hz, which is necessary for me. I've purchased enough UK Blu-Rays that I'll need this functionality, but can't figure out what players will play them and which won't.
Looking for recommendations -- want reliability, the ability to play 50i discs, and a good set of internet video apps (Netflix, MLB.tv, Hulu, Amazon are musts). Any suggestions?

No Sony player is region free. They're all region locked. What about Insignia players? You can get a refurbished player relatively cheap that is region free with a remote code, and it will also plays PAL content, which most code free won't do.

If you can afford it, Crikey, you can't go wrong with an Oppo.
If you can't, you might try one of those "220 volt" resellers. These guys sell a). grey-market, overseas players and/or b). hardware-modified US models. 220-electronics.com and world-import.com are good, reputable places to look.
