Continuum - New Sci fi Series - Series Premiere
CPS Protector Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) is transported from the year 2077 to 2012 when a group of terrorists from her time escapes execution by fleeing to present day. In order to track them down and stop them from endangering the past, Kiera joins the local police force and uses the skills of a young tech genius (Erik Knudsen).
Looks interesting enough for me to check it out

I heard about this show via Rachel Nichols and Jon Cassar's Twitter feeds. It sounds interesting, but I don't live in Canada and I'm not that desperate to watch it that I need to find an alternative source. I'll just wait until it gets a DVD release in Canada and maybe I'll see it eventually.

This was surprisingly better than I expected from the trailer. Added bonus that Curtis from 24 is in it (he was in 1st Wave too, but can't remember character name). Interesting setup and background - I liked the socio-political dynamic.
I thought the twist at the end really helped as an added hook.
I was wondering why
.
I like it enough to stick with it. Production values are lower, and some kinks to work out; but I'd say better than Alcatraz for reference.

Seems like that concept of Timetrax (or something) where a cop from the future is sent back to catch criminals that escaped to the past. He had a holographic lady partner.

Re: Continuum - New Sci fi Series - Series Premiere
In fairness to Original Desmond most shows from private networks usually have a co-production deal with a US network for them even to make it to air. And when the US network cancels it usually so does the Canadian.
There are exceptions for the occasional show on the public broadcaster (CBC) like Being Erica and Kids in the Hall/Death Comes to Town to also make it into the US but usually it's their shows which stay in Canada.
I'm still sorta surprised this show was even made without a US partner...perhaps it'll show up on first run syndication next year in the US.
WNLO Buffalo has been doing a second run syndication of the previous years eps of Stargate Universe and that won't be an option next year so this would be a fitting replacement.

Lost Girl may be another Canadian show done without a U.S. partner. I think Syfy is showing it now, but I don't think they were in on the production.

Episode 2 was solid. I like the book ending with the two orientations. Glad to see some of the story will be oriented in the future. I think that will help develop her character.
I'd honestly be good with 2-3 seasons of 13 episodes as long as we get a good story front to back.

Anybody still watching this? Season finale is tonight. I've been impressed on what this show has delivered so far. It's actually stepped out and taken an interesting look at scifi stories and takes a is setting it's own (interesting) take on time travel.

(And yes, I know you can download torrents for those who do it, but I'd rather wait until this gets broadcasted legally here to see it or import the DVD from Canada. )

This sounds like it will only be airing on UK SyFy. Could be US by extension?
From Hollywood Reporter:
From Hollywood Reporter:
The time traveler series debuted in Canada on Showcase, and stars Rachel Nichols.
TORONTO - Syfy has grabbed the U.K. rights to the Canadian time traveler series Continuum from Reunion Pictures.
The deal with international distributor GK-tv brings Syfy the Rachel Nichols-starring futuristic thriller about a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day.
The 10-part series bowed on Showcase in Canada.
“With gripping story-telling, high production values and a terrific cast, Continuum has the hallmark of a landmark science fiction series," Adam Collings, channel director at Syfy UK, said in a statement Thursday.
Continuum will launch on Syfy on Sept. 27.
The ensemble cast includes Erik Knudsen and Victor Webster.

If it was going to air in the US, I think Syfy would be promoting the heck out of it by now. It sounds like a show I would like, so maybe if it does well in the UK, syfy will air it here later like it does Merlin.

Re: Continuum - New Sci fi Series - Series Premiere
I just watched the whole first season. Very good indeed.
A bit of maudlin display of emotion by the lead in certain places is the only negative. Other than that, I liked it a lot.
Its not its own take on time travel, it has been done before (at least in novels). The terminator franchise upto T2 hinted at it.
When does it come back?
