Fantastic. Shades of the Quantum Leap finale in the last few minutes.

Spoiler:
My take is it's just like Britten mentioned about dreaming. He now has "control" and can create another reality for himself, ala how Sam was about to control a leap at the end.

RIP Awake....and NBC, I'm still bitter about Journeyman.

Loved it. Loved the whole season pretty much.

Did the writers know the show was being canceled? This sure felt like a series finale.

I liked that show and was glad it at least tied up a few things so it did not end on a cliffhanger.

As for Awake I was hoping it would end on such a note. I am not sure if he is creating another world or something else completely.

The creator answered a question on Twitter about if the episode would have been the same even if the show was renewed with "Yes. Exactly the same. Seriously."

Loved it. The episode, the series, everything. I'm also bummed about Journeyman still. I liked Awake's season more, but thought Journeyman had more long-term potential.

Man, I was really hoping for a coma.

As is, it comes across as "it was all a dream". I get that they were implying he created the new reality, but... yeah, not really impressed. Liked the show, though.

I like that his family is there yet we still are not really sure what is real or fake. Sense the show is over I will see it as real.

Interesting. If that's true, I have no idea what they would have done next season...

+1 I completely agree. I would really enjoy MORE series that INTENTIONALLY do a complete story in 13 episodes (like American Horror Story). Journeyman definitely had more potential and while the ending was fine it left my mind swimming with where it could have gone!

Glad I watched this show!

Here's an interesting interview with Kyle Killen. He talks about the finale and gives some ideas where he saw Season 2 headed. He also talks about the show in general and the TV business.

Good read. Kyle Killen is very cerebral... I noticed in the credits to open the show that Kyle's name appears throught -- he has almost every job in Awake.

I'm not sure which option to pick in the poll because I thought the finale was great - but I'm still PISSED this isn't coming back (Love seeing all the Journeyman fans in here too... NBC sure does love to cancel GREAT high concept genre shows). I found parts of the finale to raise a LOT of questions about what was real and what was not, the ending certainly didn't help to clear that up, but I really like the idea of Britten being in control of everything and merging the worlds/creating a world wherein Rex and Hanna are both still alive. This show was so much better than you're average CBS procedural, it's a shame no one watched it.

I'm pretty sure they hate it. This is a numbers game and it's not NBC's fault.

He stroked out at the end and his mind retreated to the third new reality where he lives happily ever after...

And they never released Journeyman on DVD.

I thought the ending was pretty good.

I am still waiting for a Journeyman release, the only change people have for that is if they recorded it when aired.

Too bad this didn't gain an audience. Was a fantastic show. The finale was a rare one in that nothing was really resolved with answers, but you don't really care that much about it.

I was pissed off when I watched the finale thinking "it was all just a dream? Fuck that!" After I watched it a second time I'm not so sure he was dreaming. I guess we'll never find out.

I want to retreat to a dreamworld where shows like Journeyman and Awake and Life on Mars get fantastic ratings and go on until the creators say they're done.

Journeyman is available on Hulu, at least, although I do keep checking for a DVD release.

I interpreted that both the red and green worlds were dreams... One within the other - like Inception.

Dang that was an excellent finale. Just like Journeyman, which should have also lasted longer. Wish these shows got the audiences...now just wish they'd both show up on DVD.

Enjoyed the finale. Had to read the EW article featuring Killen to get a better understanding, but overall I was impressed with the ending.

Yeah, great series finale, and a little open ended in case they were renewed. Too bad.

Re: Awake -- Series Finale -- "Turtles All The Way Down" -- 5/24/12

Just finished watching the last 2 episodes. Terrific show and a very satisfying end. It was a nice and tidy end, but who gives a fuck. I'm happy that Michael got a happy ending after all, even in a third reality. And from a viewership standpoint we got closure. Most of the major plot points/arcs were resolved, which made the 13 episode experience worth it.

It's too bad this show was way too high concept for the NBC audience and tanked.
