From Collider:

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the glorious filmmakers behind such eloquent fare as Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Vampires Suck, have set their sights on The Hunger Games for their next opus. Variety reports that Friedberg and Seltzer will write and direct The Starving Games, a “comedy” spoof that will derive its plot from The Hunger Games because it’s a lazy genius idea. Apparently the film will also spoof The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes, and the final Harry Potter film as well, given that those movies made a lot of money and stupid people will see an Avengers reference and go “I recognize that as something that I’m aware of! Funny!”

There’s a difference between lowbrow humor aimed at kids (The Smurfs) and just plain lazy comedy. Friedberg and Seltzer’s movies literally reenact entire scenes from popular blockbusters, switch it up by making someone fall down/fart in said scenes, and call it a day. That’s piggybacking, not talent, and this is why their movies are terrible.

Dying's a good way to get them to stop making movies.

Will the eventual trailer feature the song "I'm Your Boogie Man" to remind people that it's from "2 of the 6 writers of 'Scary Movie'"?

*shudders*

"Scary Movie" and its sequels lowered the bar so low for spoof movies, I fear we will never get anything the likes of "Airplane!" or "Top Secret!" again. Compared to the last 12 years of slop, those were frickin' nuanced, subtle and almost Shakespearean.

Whatever happened to that 3D spoof they were supposed to be writing and directing?
