Kick-Ass 2 happening?
From Deadline:
EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures is in talks to make Kick-Ass 2, with Jeff Wadlow directing his script. I’m told the intention is to get the film in production by August. Discussions are just getting underway with such original castmembers as Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and they will have to be signed to new deals to reprise their roles. The raucous 2010 film was directed by Matthew Vaughn; it was made for $28 million and grossed $48.1 million domestic and $103 million worldwide. The original was released by Lionsgate but became a free ball controlled by Vaughn. He can’t direct the sequel because of his commitments to his X-Men: First Class follow-up, but he is backing it and is fully supportive of handing over the reins. Wadlow, who wrote and directed 2005′s Cry Wolf, wrote the Kick-Ass 2 script for Vaughn, and it has already come before Universal’s green-light committee. I expect a deal to be closed shortly. Wadlow is repped by WME.

Mile Garbak is Vage Mirk.
Kick-Ass 2 (the comic) was god fucking awful, Kick-Ass (the movie) was overrated, undercooked tripe, and I'd rather drill holes in my own grundies than read another Millar comic.

Matthew Vaughn isn't returning to direct? That must mean that Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman are returning to write, right? No? Who's directing and writing this then? The guy who wrote and directed Cry Wolf? Um, okay...
WHO THE FUCK IS RUNNING UNIVERSAL?
Seriously. I hope Battleship and Snow White and the Huntsman bomb and Comcast fires each and every cocksucking executive at that studio.

Jeff Wadlow directing? Damn, he was a project mentor for my group on a short film at the Virginia Film Festival years ago. Hadn't heard of him doing anything in a while, but he was a good mentor, and this seems like a break.

Re: Kick-Ass 2 happening?
Does Deadline quote who the source is or did the mighty Deadline just pull the same Millar (not "random Comic-Book Writer" Millar but "Kick-Ass Creator and Producer" Millar) quote that he's been repeating for the past year? The same thing he said as recent as two weeks ago. He is known for hyperbole and overstating schedules and movie plans.
Again, who did they "hear" this from?

Re: Kick-Ass 2 happening?
Millar might suck now but he had several awesome stories:
Superman: Red Son
The Ultimates
Old Man Logan
Wanted and Kick-Ass was too depressing for me. I like the movie versions better.

I liked the original and really liked Vaughn's take on the source material. I had hoped he would be involved with any sequel. I'm still interested, but without him my hope for a good flick wanes a bit...

Re: Kick-Ass 2 happening?
Digital Spy has a discussion with Mark Millar about the progress of the KICK-ASS movie sequel, which we recently learned would be helmed by NEVER BACK DOWN's Jeff Wadlow. Millar discusses the casting of the film (as far as anyone can tell, the first movie's original cast is expected to return), and quite a bit more.
Choice snippets include...
So Jeff Wadlow has been appointed as director on Kick-Ass 2. Why was he chosen to helm the project?
"Matthew Vaughn chose the director about 18 months ago secretly because he knew he wasn't going to be doing Kick-Ass 2 since he had taken on the X-Men franchise."
There are some very controversial scenes in the Kick-Ass 2 comic book. Will it have to be toned down for the screen?
"Every horrible scene in the book will be in the film. The c**t line in the first one, everybody said 'there's no way you're getting that in the movie', but it happened and it's the same thing with this. Everybody is saying 'you can't have a gang rape scene with supervillains' and 'you can't have the dog's head cut off', but every single one of those scenes will go in it."
How much material from the Hit-Girl spinoff comic is going to make it into Kick-Ass 2?
"Hit-Girl will be the first 30 minutes of the movie and then the next 70 minutes is Kick-Ass 2. So Hit-Girl is structured as the first act."

Never heard of the new director. Didn't care to see NBD, looked boring. Is the guy any good at directing? Looking at his work...never knew he existed.
