Hi,
I have a Sony DVP-S500D. I know it's kinnda old =) .. Anyway, I want to modify it so I can watch DVDs from other regions. How do I go about doing that? I heard there is a kit that I can buy off the net but I cant seem find those sites. Can someone give me a suggestion please ..
Should I just avoid all the hassles and just buy a new DVD player? Is there any site in the US that sell code free dvd players? All the sites I've seen are either in australia or europe ..
Thanks much

Hi Faralrone,
welcome to the forum!
I bought my kit at www.chiptech.de here in Germany. They have one for your Player as well. But maybe you'll find a site in the US to avoid problems and high postage.
Modified players can be bought here, but I can't say if they're reliable.

http://www.planet3000.com/Prod_MSDVD.shtml is one of the places you could check out for multi-region DVD players sold in the U.S.

You could try www.techtronics.com but they have ALLEGEDLY got a bad reputation for customer service.
There's lots of info on them in the news group uk.media.dvd ( try deja.com to view the history ).
