It was said somewhere that, like the release of Princess Monoke, the erelease would be staggered in Canada and the US. playing in the Major cities first or only, I'm not too sure but those were some info I could remember. However, a more reliable aid is the release of the film on DVD, region 3 from Hong Kong. 8th is the official release in Hong kong whilst 15th is the date that shops in Chinatown are getting them in is the 15th of this month. Price of the disc is supposed to be about CND$40 (twoked all this info from asian dvd forum. Kudos go to Cyberpunk 2000).
