A Firefly reunion is always welcome on this show.

Re: Castle -- "Headhunters" -- 4/16/12

I was thinking of Adam Baldwin being on Chuck and completely forgot about him on Firefly. And that was a big reunion because they basically spent the whole episode together.

Laura the ME was supercute. Judging by the credits, she appears to be Anna Zielinski, the Kindle bikini girl.

Is it just me, or did this seem like a backdoor pilot for a new show called "Slaughter"? You've already got a supporting cast --- the cute ME and the cocky undercover buddy.

I hope not because even though I loved seeing Mel and Jane back together I hated his character. He was so unrealistic as a cop he didn't fit into the established world at all.

I kept waiting for some subtle Firefly mention, maybe Castle saying he should give Slaughter a silly girl's name if he puts him in one of his books.

I didn't bother with this episode. I started watching it but Baldwin, who I usually think is great, felt really off. Something about his delivery just rubbed me the wrong way so I started channel surfing.

I might try again on Hulu.

I saw that Castle gave Slaughter his brown coat, but were there any other Firefly tie ins?

Good one! I'm sure there are supernerds out there who are breaking down more details for us right now. "Aha, in episode 9, Jayne slugs Mal in the exact same way!"

Re: Castle -- "Headhunters" -- 4/16/12

I loved this episode.

It was a nice departure from the usual Kate and Castle stuff.

Slaughter kind of reminded me of John Casey and Harry Callahan. He and Castle were hilarious together.

I just checked out the Castle Facebook page and people are bitching about not getting Castle and Kate together than talking about the Firefly reunion.

I got the backdoor Pilot vibe too, but I don't think Slaughter is a strong enough character to launch his own series and resonate with Castle fans. A show based on his character would seem more like a parody of the Dirty Harry. He could be fun as a recurring character though.

...or complaining that they can't watch the video outside of the U.S.

"Backdoor pilot vibe" sounds like a sex toy.

I thought Baldwin was great. I hope he shows up again sometime.

Loved this episode. I'd watch a Slaughter/Castle spinoff.

Ep was okay. I think my expectations were too high.

Giving him the brown coat was the only obvious reference I caught.

Liked Kate's therapy session with Michael Dorn.

Are last 2 tied in together, or is next week standalone?

Crazy thought - what if Castle's dad is the shooter?

What if <del>Leia</del> Kate's real dad is <del>Luke's</del> Castle's dad?

Re: Castle -- "Headhunters" -- 4/16/12

If I were Castle, after the gut punch and the crack about Alexis he would absolutely be a character in my books and the reason for his rage? Impotence. Never piss off a best selling author.

If that turns up in the next novel, it will be hilarious.

That's what i kept hoping he would mention. "I'm going to give him a girl's name."

I've never seen Firefly but absolutely loved this episode. A pleasant change of pace, and it was awesome to see Castle being a badass.

Re: Castle -- "Headhunters" -- 4/16/12

Just caught the ep. So great to see Firefly reunions. I also got the backdoor pilot vibe, as they gave quite a bit of screen time to Slaughter's regular co-workers. I would say look for them to pop up again next fall for a case where both teams need to merge before they go ahead with a series for him. Slaughter has potential as a character IMO, and if we get a series I am certain he will get a bit more humanized and developed as opposed to the "Dirty Harry" rip-off .
Also liked the Robert Downey Jr. Avengers promo with Fillion afterward. At first I figured it was because Disney owns both ABC and Marvel, but then there was also the Joss Whedon connection, and maybe the probability of Fillion being Hank Pym in future installments!

Same here. I liked it, but thought Baldwin came off as a little too "bad cop-y". Still, I hope they bring him back again. He and Fillion do play well together.
