Our family is going to get a new tv for christmas for our home theater system, We have a huge projection tv now that doesn't look clear at all, I want one that will make our DVD player look unbelievable, also any recommendations on a sound system too?

We are thinking about getting a Sony Trinitron, what are your thoughts on those?

I'm not a video expert but it sounds like the set needs to be properly calibrated and have the tubes cleaned.

If you're planning on a direct view set, look at the Sony Wega series. The picture quality when watching DVD's is incredible.

If you are truly into home theater, I would suggest a 16X9 television...Pioneer, Toshiba....which is HDTV ready!!! Most dvds are being released 16X9 enhanced(anamorphic) so it would be a good idea to take advantage of this feature!!!

I would usually pick Sony also but for whatever reason they still have not made available a true 16X9 television...they were also one of the last to start including component inputs on their televisions.

JohanK- we cleaned the tubes about 4 months ago, its just an old tv, we've had it over 10 years.
