100% of respondents (as of now) do not like either one.
I'll admit I have enjoyed a few Cronenberg films, but I don't understand the devout following.
Lynch? WTF man ... just WTF.

Funny, I just bought 4 Lynch films on Blu-ray while I was in Australia, since I can't easily get them here in Canada. I should be voting for Cronenberg, to support a fellow Canadian, but Lynch made Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive, which are, in this viewer's opinion, the two best films in both directors' catalogues. My vote goes for Lynch, but only by a hair, for that reason. Also because voting that "I like them both equally" is for pussies.
Cosmopolis looks like it's going to be incredibly bad-ass, though.

I like em both, but I'd go with Lynch. Cronenberg is unique and great in his own right but Lynch movies have a way of drawing me in that's unparalleled by any other current director.

I'm not too fond of the directorial sensibility of either one, but Cronenberg made The Brood and has the better overall resume, whereas Lynch made the wonderful The Straight Story.

Lynch for Twin Peaks alone. Add in the great Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet and you have a winner.
I feel bad but I've only seen The Fly, Crash, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises from Cronenberg. I liked A History of Violence the most out of those four though The Fly was decent.

Cronenberg for me. Wild at Heart is one of my favorites but for the most part Lynch is just so freakin weird my brain can't deal. Cronenberg I can at least see down his dark path just a bit and it's very scary but enjoyable.

I've liked what I've seen of Cronenberg's (10), but aside from the arm wrestling scene in The Fly, and rgw phrase, gynecological tools for operating on mutant women, nothing he's done has stuck with me like even just Lynch's Twin Peaks has.

Cronenberg.
Not only do I enjoy his films more but he signed a couple DVDs for me (Crash, Dead Ringers). He seemed very nice and "normal"

Not even close. Cronenberg all the way.
I don't like any of Lynch's movies, although I did somewhat enjoy the first season of Twin Peaks until it became a self-indulgent mess.

Re: David Cronenberg vs. David Lynch - Which David Do You Like Best?
I'll say this. I'll say that David LYNCH is a more fascinating filmmaker than Cronenberg. I don't like a lot of Lynch. I don't like Eraserhead..but damnit if it's not a fucking great movie. Just not my taste though. Cronenberg really...gets you in the psychological and physical embodiment of the characters. That Lynch I think doesn't go the that DC doescuz he doesn't want to...and there's nothing wrong w/ that.
Lynch is the better filmmaker but I like Cronenberg more. And since this is asking which I like the best...well David Cronenberg by a fucking mile and a half.
You take that back. It is perfect!

Both.
They are my favorite movie makers.
Depends on what kind of mood Im in. DC for the dark, sexual. DL for the odd side.

Re: David Cronenberg vs. David Lynch - Which David Do You Like Best?
I prefer Lynch overall. Cronenberg is best when he sticks to his particular brand of intellectual exploitation. His more "serious" movies completely miss the mark for me (Eastern Promises, A History Of Violence, Spider, A Dangerous Method).
I will say that I greatly admire the technical quality of Cronenberg's films. His partnership with Peter Suschitzky has resulted several impeccably produced films. They make 99% of the production teams working today look like hacks.

Re: David Cronenberg vs. David Lynch - Which David Do You Like Best?
Lynch has had higher highs (The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive) and lower lows (Dune, Wild At Heart, Inland Empire) than Cronenberg. Cronenberg has been more consistent over the years and is continuing to make fascinating, thoughtful films while Lynch seems to have descended into a creative quagmire where he cannot discern a good idea from a bad one.
So I'd say I like them both equally. Lynch's best works are so exhilarating and provocative, but his bad stuff is really bad. Cronenberg has never made anything as bad as Lynch's worst, but hasn't quite ever hit the heights of Lynch's best (although Videodrome, The Fly, and eXistenZ come close).

Re: David Cronenberg vs. David Lynch - Which David Do You Like Best?
I like both very much but prefer Cronenberg's more. Maybe because his films skirt the line between reality and fantasy but they always feel like they could actually happen. Some of Lynch's films feel like they could be some beautiful or disturbing dream.
The Fly and Dead Ringers are two of my favorite films of all time so that's why I chose him.
