View Full Version : Are you a millionaire?

Just read that by 2020 there will supposedly be 20.6 million households in the United States with a net worth of $1,000,000 or more. There were 10.5 million households in 2011.

So, are you a millionaire? Keep in mind that net worth is simply the value of everything you own--house, car, boat, whatever you have in your bank account, etc minus what you may or may not owe on said things you own.

Man that's some massive projected inflation.

Um... does a billionaire count as a millionaire in this poll, or would that be option 3?

Man that's some massive projected inflation.

That's what she said.

I'm not sure why.

On paper? Do IOUs count? Those are as good as money.

I thought they usually didn't count your primary residence for net worth.

I thought they usually didn't count your primary residence for net worth.

The article I read did. Primary residence, business, everything. Maybe that's why the number is so high.

I'd like to know the number of projected liquid millionaires. Liquid more or less meaning you have $1,000,000 sitting in the bank or in some kind of account that's easily able to be withdrawn.

If you subtract what I owe in student loans, I am worth approximately nothing.

My student loans tank me...but eventually! Or I might just marry rich.

You and God only knows how many other Americans. I have a buddy who just recently told me he still has around $400,000 in student loans. I didn't press him on that number, but I simply can't understand how he could possibly owe that much. He's a lawyer, so obviously went to 4 years of college and then onto law school, but even still. That number boggled my mind. I'm sure he makes pretty good dough, but he's married with 2 kids and has a house and he graduated from law school probably pretty close to 10 years ago now and he still owes that much. For the life of me I don't know how he'll ever pay it all back.

That sucks. I've paid off half of mine already so I'm not worried, and I didn't go to college until I was 26 (31 now).

I would be so afraid if I was 22 and just graduated, with probably 6 figures of loans to pay back, and no jobs available. Only the oldest Boomers are now retiring, where are the jobs going to be?

I was a millionaire once. It was pretty cool.

Jimmy Buffett has a song that I don't think I've ever heard but it has an awsome title, "I Used to Have Money One Time"

I rocked it on paper twice...but then I got crushed in the market...twice. I do better at the craps table.

I was 42 y/o when I finished paying my student loans and school here isn't even close to being as expensive as in the US so I can imagine what a burden it must be for some.

Well if you don't include the primary residence, I don't make it. If you do include the primary residence, I don't make it.

God no. But I'm doing well for my age. The partners at my firm make $1M+ a YEAR - but I don't expect I'll ever get to that level. I can't even imagine that level of income. But they worked their asses off for it.

Stupid inflation. When I was a kid, there were 5 billionaires in the world. Today, if you have 1.00 billion dollars, you don't even make the Forbes 400. Their minimum is 1.05 billion.

I am nowhere close to being a millionaire. Not even if I sold Mrs Danger's organs on the black market. Not even if Mrs Danger died in a terrible accident and her drawings suddenly became worth ten times their current value.

The answer to this poll is no, but the next poll we need to see should be about penis size.

My vote remains hell no!

Me too! Probably less than nothing. Is it possible to have a negative net worth? Because I have one of those probably.

I paid a million in taxes with three chicks at the same time.

Okay, I actually ordered a 4 piece McNugget Happy Meal and one fell on the floor. But I swear that lotto ticket is around here somewhere.

My company should hit almost $1MM in revenue this year. Doesn't mean I'm making a million though.
