View Full Version : The Man Who Fell to Earth availability?

Criterion's "The Man Who Fell to Earth" went out of print nearly 2 years ago. Some research suggests it was for the same reason as their "The Third Man" and other titles: Studio Canal was exercising their right to release their own copy, through Lion's Gate in the USA. A new TTM was released roughly a year later and remains in print. Can anyone explain why TMWFTE is still unavailable? I see the UK Blu Ray on Optimum is also out-of-print, but still commonly available. Perhaps Studio Canal is just biding their time?? Thanks.

Studio Canal was probably planning on releasing it through their "Studio Canal Collection" label, but it most likely won't happen due to the label being dropped due to low sales of the titles they did release. If it is rereleased, it will be through Lions Gate, since they were/are doing the distribution of Studio Canal's titles.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I'm off to buy the UK Blu-ray.

I watched it on Netflix last week.

Why So Blu?

The pre-order is available on Amazon Canada and the total, shipped, comes to about $1 and some change cheaper than the UK copy. I canceled my Amazon UK version and pre-ordered the Canadian one. They should be the same exact item.

And for those that it applies to, the Canadian one will most likely be region A compatible.
