Opinions: new BD player or Roku box?

I'm considering replacing my three-year old Sony BD player (which still works fine, but is only wi-fi ready and does not have any streaming options) with a new one that has wi-fi, Netflix/Amazon/Hulu streaming capability.

What's the go-to model/make these days on a BD player?

Or do I just go with a Roku box?

Is there a difference in streaming quality between BD players and a standalone box like a Roku?

I would keep your current BD player, and get a Roku 2 box.

Based on what I've seen, BD players don't take streaming too seriously. It's just an added feature. Get a Roku. Streaming is all they do, and they do it well.

Thirded.

Oh, it's probably not streaming quality, it's app quality which would be better. Interface, not streaming resolution.

Get a PS3. The main things you can stream on Roku you can do on PS3 plus you can play a few games and watch blu-rays.

I own both but only use my roku when I have to.

After our PS3 broke and we decided we didn't want to replace it, we bought a Roku box for Netflix and Panasonic Bluray player for discs.

It's one instance where we're okay with it not being "all-in-one".
