View Full Version : Most Ridiculous Movie Death Scene Ever?

I honestly can not think of another movie that tops this particular death scene in regards to realism.

The scene in particular occurs in the James Bond flick, "Live and Let Die". The main villian, Kananga, decides to give Bond a rather painful death in a shark filled tank. But Bond gets the upper hand and inserts a gas filled pellet into Kananga's mouth.

The next scene is so bad that it is practically hysterial. We see Kananga quickly rise out of the water as a cheap inflated human balloon. He rises to the ceiling, and we see him explode. Only it looks and sounds exactly like a balloon being popped. lol No blood. Just a goofy Bond quip. It's almost like they ran out of money on the budget and came up with this cheapo prop at the last minute.

Can you think of a movie that tops this?

I'm assuming that you mean in a drama...as there have been some pretty crazy death scenes in movies (like Ricardo Montalban in THE NAKED GUN).

How about (Special Edition "only"!) Greedo? ;)

The fact that that scene took like 5 minutes to play out with all the backward glances made it that much funnier when he gets killed. I couldn't stop laughing in the theater.

Good job, Universal, for running the trailer to SW:TPM before and AFTER the film and tricking me into watching this abhorrent POS.

In Volcano, the lava is enveloping a subway car. One guy is carrying the unconcious conductor, but can't jump over the lava, so he jumps into the lava and after throwing the conductor to safety, sloooowly dissolves into the lava without a peep. The only thing missing was, "I'M MELTING!"

Quite the list so far. Some I know, some I don't, and some I saw but can't remember (Con Air, for example).

I'll add the scene in Hot Fuzz when...

Galaxy of Terror. Death by giant maggot rape.I need to buy this movie. Some interesting memories I have of it...

1. Worm rape scene initially gave the movie an X rating.
2. James Cameron worked on the movie before he became a director.
3. I admittedly saw this at the drive-in, hoping Erin Moran would show her boobs.

One old school VHS horror movie I saw back in the day.

One guy dies becauase he's on a ladder, and the killer is shaking it back and forth. He tells the killer to stop it, asks them what they are doing, before finally losing his balance and falling into a giant pot of boiling hot water.

Another scene has a girl taking a shower, and someone pushing a knife into her back not very fast, and she stands there to make it easier for the killer, while screaming. When someone finds the girl she's still standing up in the shower, with the knife in her, but finally collapses seconds later.

I agree that it is somewhat ridiculous, but I think that is part of the point. Almost everyone knows it is coming, but the whole set up for the stunt and then having it end is such an awkward almost cartoonish way was brilliant.
