This is supposedly the First musical comedy game. I liked the first one despite it's flaws. I hope they eventually port it over to 360/ ps3 before 2 comes out.

Coming to systems other than Wii? Color me interested.

First musical comedy game? Wasn't that Guitar Hero 5?

Unless it's only Move & Kinect versions.

I was surprised to hear Spector's reasoning behind Epic Mickey not having voices

"Spector took responsibility for this choice, saying that he originally thought that if silent film character Oswald couldn't speak, then no one else should. Now he admits that this was a bad decision."

I always thought it was because of the Wii Hardware holding them back.

The first musical comedy game was Parappa the Rapper on the PS1.

i believe the only way to play this one is co-op as per GTTV if i remember from the show correctly. would have liked a nice single player platformer in this one.

You can play it solo I believe, the cpu just controls Oswald.

And still the best.

The control scheme for the original was great. And since the 360 doesn't support that, it's between the PS3 and Wii versions. I don't own a PS3, so Wii version again for me

The 3DS version is a sequel to the Sega Genesis game Castle of Illusion. Looks cool.
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=141675
"Power of Illusion is being put together by DreamRift, the studio behind 2011's Monster Tale for the Nintendo DS. The game, which is its own side-scrolling, platforming title (instead of a mere port of The Power of Two), is a follow-up to Epic Mickey, but more interestingly, it's also a follow-up to Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, a 1990 game for the Sega Genesis!

Randomly had The View on yesterday and they were promoting the Wii version on the show. Not the Wii U version, the Wii version. I was surprised by that.

I'm looking forward to the 3ds version instead of the console versions. It actually sounds like a completely different game.

Maybe that's because it's a different game.

The 3DS version sounds cool. I'll wait for reviews on both, though.

My daughter is getting a 3DS from Santa. I nabbed her Nintendogs and Epic Mickey. I'll have to steal it after bedtime and give Mickey a spin.

I kind of wish I would have just picked up the Wii version of this when it was $30 instead of the Wii U version. The Wii U version doesn't allow off screen play and doesn't even include the original Wiimote control scheme.

I'm reviewing the Wii U version. It's not terribly good, is it?

Not that I plan on getting one of these at any point in the near future, but do the boxes of WiiU games tell you that they are second screen games?

You mean games that can be played entirely on the Game Pad, or games that require both the TV and the game pad?

It seems like it will be enjoyable, enough. I haven't played it much. I wish it was part of the Nintendo Network. At least then I could hold out some hope for a patch that added in off screen play and Wiimote controls :/

I'm not seeing anything on the Mario U packaging that indicates it, and I know that is a game that can be played entirely on the Game Pad. I also don't see anything on the ZombiU packaging that indicates it can't be played just on the Game Pad, and I know it can't.

You just have to know...or hope it says so in the description.

Mickey 2 does not have GamePad play time.

I will say that it's pretty badass that they included Tik-Tok from Return to Oz in this

Another one bites the dust:

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-epic-mickey-disney-junction-point-20130129,0,1358302.story

Walt Disney Co. has shut down the Texas game studio behind "Epic Mickey," the Burbank media giant's unsuccessful attempt to reinvent Mickey Mouse for the interactive age.

They're going to be focusing on Infinity, which will be the only console game that Disney is working on according to the article. How was the DS game anyway? How close was it to the Genesis game in terms of gameplay?

Hate to see them go, but I can't help but wonder if their mistake was targeting only the Wii for the first game. If they had made them for the 3 major consoles from the start (well, 4 consoles for the sequel I suppose), maybe they would have sold better.

No chance in hell:
The company’s only major console franchise in recent years has been "Epic Mickey," a re-imagining of the classic character from the respected video game creator Warren Spector.

Although the 2010 game was a modest success, selling 1.3 million units in the U.S. from its November launch through the end of that year, 2012’s sequel sold only 270,000 copies during the comparable time period, according to a person with access to sales data from research firm NPD Group who was not authorized to share it publicly.
