Interesting. Being developed by the ModNation people. This must be the "Modnation Beta" I've been invited to do from the Playstation Rewards program.

Dead thread, it seems. But the beta codes went out today. Unfortunately I didn't get one. I assume from the lack of responses that no one else got one or maybe even applied. Early feedback from twitter is that it seems fun!

I'm still fuzzy about why this game even exists. Isn't ModNation Racers essentially Little Big Planet Karting already?

I felt the same way. I think their thinking is that Little Big Planet has more name recognition, so this game is basically taking the place of Mod Nation Racers. I'm not sure, but I don't think MNR sold as well as Sony hoped it would.

Everything I've seen has been on twitter. The Devs have said that there are tons of bugs and that this is a real beta as opposed to an early or promotional demo, but the general feedback seems positive. Lot of fun, some say just as good as Mario Kart, some say not as good but still awesome, and then the diehard LBPers are loving it. Those are all initial impressions, so hopefully some more substantive stuff will be written soon.

Re: Little Big Planet Karting (2012)
Got sent a code and tried it out and...
Maybe I'd rather see a MNR sequel instead. There's some cool stuff and some of the user-created levels are fantastic, but something seems off to me. I wish successful racing games would continue under their own title instead of getting appropriated by bigger names (I'm looking at you Burnout.)
Also, one of the things I miss from Mario Kart that MNR and LBPKR don't have are different weight carts. Both MNR and LBPKR have different size karts, but they all have the same karting abilities. They're also missing character-specific abilities/weapons. Both of those things go into the fun and strategy of Mario Kart. I guess everyone having the same kart and weapons evens the playing field, but to me those elements keep the game fresh and exciting. It also allows you to unlock and open up different characters and karts which is rewarding. Yes, you can unlock stickers and parts, but it's all for looks and not playability. Also, the speed of the karts feels slow, unless I hit a boost or come out of a drift, I feel like I'm just putting along.
But, just based on some of the user levels I played, there's going to be some amazingly awesome stuff created for this game.

Re: Little Big Planet Karting (2012)
I got one from Gamespot, and then today Sony sends me another one.
I felt the game was lacking a bit. Maybe it's because I was one of the few people who bought Blur (and managed to get the Plat), but this game just feels a little bit lackluster. I'm sure when the full game comes out that it will be more polished, and have more of a LBP feel than it does right now. I just don't know if they'll manage to have a game that lives up to the previous LBP games.
I will say that I had fun, there a demolition derby type mode which was cool, and even a RC car race where the controls are completely different from normal racing. The normal races are also pretty fun and competitive, with it being more based on luck than skill.

Re: Little Big Planet Karting (2012)
After trying it, it just feels like modded levels for LBP2 and if this is a full priced release then I'm out.

Bumping this as I see it was released recently. Any more thoughts now that the finished product is out there?
Also, might be a silly thought for a kart racer, but does anyone know if this would be compatible with a Logitech wheel/pedals set-up? Thanks!

So is this more Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing? I actually liked the adventure aspect of Diddy Kong Racing...
