MLB 12: The Show (March 6th - PS3, PS Vita)
Surprised there wasn't a thread yet... Unless I missed it, and in that case my apologies. Did a search though and nothing came up.
Who's excited?

I'm getting it. I'm hoping that they have fixed the online league problems so that we can resurrect out league from two years ago. And Beltran and Berkman go deep!

I have it pre-ordered this year after skipping it completely last year. If memory serves, this title rarely has any significant price drops until long after its release so I decided to go for a day one purchase on this. Between getting this and getting Game of Thrones on BD, I can't wait for Tuesday evening to get here.

I just put in my pre-order for this and I went for the bundle with the PS3 and Vita versions for 20 dollars more. I don't have a Vita yet but I'll put the game away until I get one at some point in the near future.

Definitely getting it this year.
I passed on last year's game, so hopefully I'll be getting a nice treat with a ton of new animations and all that.

Thinking about it. Especially with the $80 bundle now live at Amazon. Will check some reviews first. Looking forward to expanded Move controls. Hope to not throw the Move controller through my HDTV.

Did the exact same thing. This game is the reason I'll be getting a Vita... and the fact that I have $175 in Amazon credit.

It's not a pro review, but ESPN's Steve Berthiaume posted his review of The Show today.

I'm getting both the PS3 and Vita versions tomorrow.

This is the last year of 2K's exclusive contract, so the hope is that MVP will make a comeback.
That being said, I'm probably gonna pick up The Show this year after skipping 11. The trophy list is online free this year, and the only one that looks tough is pitching a perfect game. I've only pitched one of those in all my years of baseball games, and that was over 10 years ago. Well, I think I got a few on Bases Loaded for the NES, but that was due to a spot you could pitch the ball that was impossible to hit. So I don't really count those.
Full Move Controls and the fact that the new Marlins park is in the game have convinced me to buy. Also, they are working on adding the new playoff format to the game via a patch (something 2K has already committed to).

But also I don't really play games on PS3 anymore, and the commentary is pretty bad on The Show and great on 2k.
See above.
See above, and above.
It's really not as bad as it used to be. I played 2k9 and it sucked total ass. But 2k10 and 2k11 were really fun. 2k12 seems pretty cool so far.
Same here. The Show is pretty good, but MVP 05 was brilliant...well once we modders got our hands on it and molded it into what it became after EA had to abandon it.

More insipid The Show fodder...
My RTTS pitcher got docked -5 for not covering 1st base. On a foul ball. Because I didn't make it to the bag before the umpire called the fall ball, even. I was trying to cover because I figured it was something The Show would do.
Why do I convince myself I need this game in my life?

Funny 'cuz i read this thread each year waiting for people to say how amazing the game is and convincing me to buy a PS3 and the game along with it. This year in particular since i am stepping into the blu-ray world and need a player but I know i will probably just end up getting a regular BR player.
As for the 2K games i think they have slowly improved in the last few versions but it's never quite enough for me to grab it for my 360. Plus looks wise 2K is so far behind and this years demo looks exactly like last years game.

I still find hitting to be incredibly difficult. It's almost impossible to know if a pitch is going to be a ball or a strike if it's remotely close to the zone.
