That's what happens when you sky-dive out of helicopters on a semi-regular basis.

Not a biggie since they had several episodes earlier this season that Danno was hardly in. They can just create an episode focusing on him and McGarrett won't even be missed.

The show is slowly losing me, but I can't really say why.

I know what was boring me - the conspiracy plot took centre stage for too long, while not offering enough detail in any given episode. I'm glad we finally learned what was going on. I think this show works best as an episodic cop show in Hawaii - the standard fare was good stuff!

There's a fine line. I watch this show before going to sleep, so I don't want it to be brilliant or stimulating, but don't want tedious boredom either. So more Jay Leno than Pan Am.

I think you've hit the nail on the head and got me thinking. This show is at it's best during the stand alone episodes. The long running story arcs on this show are just not that good.

I know "procedural" is a negative word around here, but that's when H5O is at its best. Those episodes tend to be more light-hearted and fun. The arc stories tend to be too heavy and take itself way too seriously.

IMO, this show shined when McGarrett was basically Jack Bauer 2.0 with his own personal team.

Hey last season I mentioned a few times that the weakest part of this show is their ham fist'ed "large story arc" and people here freaked out that someone would even suggest a show needed more one off eps.

still, IMO it's was true last season with the dumb "chase the tool box around" for 5+ eps and it's true this season too..

the writers blow 4+ eps on having Joe White
Spoiler:
being hunted, threatened, shot and finally kidnapped by the Yakuza only to have the "pay off" be........... a phone call.

*golf clap* for that level of main story arc writing. ...
but the show has a pretty big cast and I'm sure it can adsorb McGarrett not being around for a few eps if they have to... Then again I'm not sure who is going to sky dive out of a plane to catch someone else who was thrown out of plane with out McGarrett around!
