My wife & I don't get out to see that much local talent, but we do get a kick out of some of the names listed in the newspaper's concert listings. Don't have any idea about what kind of music they play or how good they are, but still appreciate the names.
Some recent ones that caught our attention:
Big Nasty
Unkle Dad
Blind Boy Chocolate
and two favorites:
Skunk Ruckus
Yo' Mama's Big Fat Booty Band
There's lots more and lots better, but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
Got any good band names to share (regardless of whether you've heard 'em or not)?

S.P.U.D.S. - Special People Under Doctors Supervision. They were around Pittsburgh in the 80's, don't know if they still are.
Live Nudes, who chose the band name in the hopes that their concert listings in the newspaper might fool more people into coming to the show, expecting something else entirely. I worked with one of the band members almost 20 years ago.

Not around anymore, but I liked Kathleen Turner Overdrive.
Aside from being a line from High Fidelity, that was a real band?

My favorite South FL metal band from the 80s was Sinister Minister. So perfect for 1986...

When I worked at a Kinko's in VA I used to always print out posters for a band called Hot Buttered Elvis. Never bothered to check them out, fun name though.
