Thanks John/snausages!
I've pretty much gotten to the point where shopping for bargain DVDs at Target has become a secondary consideration. I used to look forward to Target's DVD sales, but no more. Now, if I make it at all, it's rarely the Sunday that the sale starts or even the Monday after. I think I may have burned out on buying DVDs. Money is tight, business is slow, the economy is for shit. I no longer have the zest that I used to for buying new (or old) DVDs... -kd5-

Woh.
Haven't reached that point yet. I have this massive list of DVD wants on my desktop. It grows every week. A few days back added "The Mark Of Zorro: Special Edition" and "Anastasia" (live). On my radar now.
As for Target itself, it varies. Last week had some pretty good deals at nine bucks, picked up three; "Cowboys & Aliens", "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" and "The Help" (saw last night, very good). I'm hoping for a repeat at that price of other titles on my list.

It doesn't help that new releases will eventually drop in price. So unless you really need it on the first day, you are better off waiting.
Hope business picks up for you.

That has become especially true in the last year or so. A 50-75% price drop in 6-12 months is not unusual for major studio releases.

Very discouraging to folks who are looking to buy new releases. I have been only getting ones I really want or exclusives that I must have (and will sell out quickly). Otherwise the waiting game has been quite beneficial to my wallet.

Re: Target DVD Prices (February 19th - 25th, 2012)
The last few years all the big retailers of DVDs drop off in terms of deals after the holidays; and the big online dealers (Amazon, Half Price, others) are pretty unmotivating, too. That said, it's always worth a look when you go to Target or BB. Sometimes you come up empty, sometimes not. At Target it's the unadvertised deals that are worth looking for in the long Feb.-Nov. drought. Just last week I got S1 & S2 of Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" for $5. I love that sort of chow (though I resist eating a lot of it) and Fieri's a fun, lively host. Don't despair. Patience is rewarded in the hunt for cool, cheap DVDs and Blu Rays.
