If they can drastically change the time period/scenery then I'm down for buying it. I borrowed the last one from a friend because I couldn't see buying it.

Revelations was fun but the gameplay/storyline was getting real tiresome by the end, and only because it was "more of the same, with enhancements" for the third year in a row. Plus it really didn't "reveal" much that we didn't already suspect, and left way too many loose ends open from Brotherhood. Still, long in the tooth as it was, it was FUN.
AC3 will be a Day One purchase, but I'm REALLY hoping we get something new and innovative.

I still need to finish Revelations as it is. The den defense stuff really turned me off.

I didn't like the den defense stuff either, but I only did it once, at the beginning when they teach you how to do it.

Have faith, but it's gonna be weird in that time, looking like that, sticking out like a sore thumb. Plus everyone gots a damn musket. Won't be a lot of impressive vistas either, least nothing deserving of the next main entry.
Hope to be wrong.

Someone at Game Informer may have flipped the switch on their new cover hub a bit too early. I snapped this pic a few minutes ago, in case they bring it down any time soon. Keeping this post awfully short, since we already had another image pop up over on Kotaku (and Pinterest) that alludes to this exact game. The official Assassin’s Creed Facebook page alludes to some sort of announcement today…you can see where this is all going, right?
...
Update: They removed that entire web element. The banner itself, along with several others is now entirely gone! Nifty; we’ve never broken a story like that before.

I'm pretty excited about this. The series needed a major change-up to stay fresh and interesting.
And while I'd be absolutely fine with never having to climb another damn building in an Assassin's Creed game, there are plenty of places the story could go that will provide that opportunity.
Also, possibilities for controversial takes on history and its exalted figures FTW.

I think they're shutting out a lot of interesting settings by jumping that much forward in time.

Maybe that setting is but one in the story? Remember when it first came out and the present day BS was a complete surprise?
Also - this is going to be so goddamned full of conspiracy shit I'm giddy. I've filled three cups already.

Now that is a bonerific cover. I wonder which side, if any, of the Revolutionary War the Templars fall. It would be nice if it wasn't as cut-and-dry as Templars/British vs Assassins/Revolutionaries/Guerilla-Warfarers.

Weren't most of the founding fathers freemasons and thus essentially Templars in the mythology of the series? Fox News is probably prepping a controversy already.

Amazing cover!
So, does this mean Natty Bumpo was an Assassin?

This series is basically a conspiracy theorist's wet dream.

I love the hatchet and a bow instead of a crossbow. It gives me a The Last of the Mohicans vibe. I just hope I get to use a long rifle and not just the pistol he has in his holster.
