The Counselor -- D: Ridley Scott -- screenplay by Cormac McCarthy -- 2013
Ridley Scott will direct "The Counselor" next, not the new Blade Runner movie. Production is expected to start in May.
The Counselor is being described as “‘No Country for Old Men’ on steroids”, with insiders claiming that the story – about a respectable lawyer who gets in over his head after becoming involved in the illegal drug business – is one of McCarthy’s “most disturbing and powerful works” to date. This is his first original script.
Michael Fassbender is the front runner for the lead role.

Scott w/ Fassbender as the possible lead? And McCarthy w/ a script? I'm soooo fucking there.

I prefer Scott's historical epics or Sci-fi over his "smaller" films but I'm still very excited for this. The last few McCarthy stories brought to the big screen were fantastic and Fassbender has yet to disappoint.

After coming off Prometheus I can understand why he would want a "smaller" picture to direct. Hopefully it will turn out better than A Good Year.
I agree with GoldenJCJ in that I prefer his epics/sci-fi flicks.

I love McCarthy and Scott. I just watched Fassbender in Hunger last night and thought his performance and the movie were both great. I eagerly await further information.

Wow, am definitely intrigued by this. Not only for Scott and possibly Fassbender, but also seeing how an original script by McCarthy turns out.

I like everything about it except for Ridley being at the helm.
Man I'd feel a lot better if it wasn't him directing.

Man, this cast just keeps getting better and better. They've now signed Brad Pitt, Javier Bardeem and Penelope Cruz to the thing.

I read that Angelina Jolie may also be involved in a small but pivotal role. Probably something that gets her the coveted "And" credit.

I just stumbled upon this news tonight. Sounds great to me. Brad Pitt has a small role in the film, and IMDB also lists Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. Cameron Diaz is rumored to join.
There are other sites that have mentioned Jeremy Renner as a possible addition. But most of those are from 2-3 months ago.
