Mohegan Sun has a strict curfew for a lot of their concerts, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was shorter than most of the tour. I remember Peter Frampton touring last year, performing 2 full sets (about 3 hours) at most locations; except for the Mohegan Sun show, where it was specifically listed as being a shorter, 1-set show because of curfew.

Funny, before the Convention Hall show he never even played with them on stage in the US. Maybe I am wrong.

Yes, there are a few dirty hippies sprinkled in the crowd but I also find a good amount of metal heads and old people. It's a pretty diverse crowd.

Saw The Black Keys on wednesday. A great show. the guys sounded very good (even if I was convinced they played 80% of the songs a fraction FASTER than they are on record), had great energy and the setlist was nearly perfect. Arctic Monkeys opened the show, but I've never been a big fan of theirs - they were extremely loud, far too distorted and a bit all over the place. I'm going to see the Keys again in the summer and can't wait - if you like them, definitely worth the ticket price.

They were great live. Their bassist is a madman on stage and should be in every band period. That band as well as Black Tusk were the reasons why I came out to the show in the first place.
Unfortunately, the two friends I came with weren't into them at all.
Not sure how far you are from Dayton, OH, but they played Friday (4/6) night I think.

Great show. 3 hours with no breaks. I could have done without the 8 songs off the new album...5 would have been okay for me. But other than that it was amazing and their little Clarence tribute during 10th Avenue Freeze Out was pretty touching and one of the reasons I love live music.

Garbage at the El Rey on Tuesday. Incredible show. They rocked so hard, it felt like it was 1996 all over again.
I rarely go to shows but since I've been a fan of Thomas Dolby since 1983 and he's playing just a few blocks from where I live tonight, I'm going to see him. Anyone know the proper way to get something autographed after a show? Was going to bring my "Live Wireless" laserdisc.

The Hives were really great live. It was my first time seeing them and I was impressed. Really funny stage banter/audience interactions too. They've been around since 93'-94' and were (at one point) on the same record label as Refused (Burning Heart Records). Their singer, Pelle Almqvist, on-stage arrogance is definitely part of their schtick.
Refused was amazing. They played 'Everlasting' which surprised even me, because it's a really old song and they didn't play it in either of their SoCal shows.

Just got back from the Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys. Man do they put on a live show.
We just saw them on Saturday here in Tulsa, OK. The Black Keys rocked as expected although it was a bit too short of a set if you ask me. However, after the first few songs of Arctic Monkeys I grew tired of their sound as almost every song either started or ended frantically as if they were trying to strum their guitars to death or bang the drums into oblivion. And they played for nearly an hour while The Black Keys set wasn't much longer than that including their encore songs.

Same here, the wife and I caught this show in Austin a couple of weeks ago. I completely agree about the Arctic Monkeys, it got repetitive after the first few songs for me. I didnt like the fact that they played about an hour - and used strobe lights for so much of it. Black Keys rocked it damn good though. But I wish their set was much longer.
We would have caught Garbage here in town as well, but they had to postpone due to one of the band members having to deal with a family issue, per their website.

I was offered a punch in the face by two separate individuals (two unrelated incidents). I declined both offers. So I moved to my left and stood up in front of the person to his left (who didn't complain).

Mastodon, my 6th time seeing them, also did not disappoint. They played a killer set and got all the songs I like. Very good show.

That is really cool! I dug them, they have that classic hardcore sound, with some punk.
Lou came out and did "It's Clobbering Time" which went into "Injustice System". Considering this was in New York, the fans dug it, the hipsters (and there were a lot at the show) were confused.

The San Francisco show I went to also had a lot of hipsters. Refused is the only Hardcore/Hardcore Punk band hipsters like. More proof? If you watch the secret show Refused played in New York to 100-150 people, they covered Earth Crisis' 'Firestorm'. There were like 3 people singing along. Really folks?!?
I remember looking around and seeing folks more excited to hear songs off of 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' than songs off of 'Songs To Fan The Flames of Discontent'. Hell, they even played 'Everlasting' at the San Francisco date and not that many people were excited. I almost lost my mind, mostly because I didn't expect them to go that far back in their catalog.

I had seen each of them separately with their own bands in the past, and both kicked ass. But the duo together just really didn't do it for me. The group has so much potential (horn section, dual drum sets, Burbridge brothers), but never took off...kinda like having a Maserati, but only driving it in school zone. Still had a good time though, plenty of satisfying moments, so it wasn't bad at all. It just didn't live up to my expectations.

Not as "cool" as the majority of acts mentioned in this thread, but seeing Chickenfoot at The Brick in Minneapolis last night was just great, old-school, hard rock fun.
I don't know if I was just standing in the wrong place or if the venue really is as lousy as its reputation is getting to be, but the mid-range sounds sucked. Low sounds were great, high range was there, too (and really high was distorted), but it was freakin' loud in there. My ears are still ringing.
Opening band was Black Stone Cherry. Never heard of them before, but they did a great 35 minute set. They went all-out and hooked us from the first note.

I was offered a pair of free tix from a friend in radio - and since I have another friend who is a huge Bonamassa fan, but wasn't able to get tix to this sold out show, I invited him along with me.
Gotta say, I'm a fan of him now. Truly amazing show, and mind-numbingly brilliant guitar playing, and singing, on Bonamassa's part! If you like good blues based guitar rock, his show is well worth checking out. He put many other artists in the same genre I have seen before to shame. The crowd was also totally into it, too, and you could tell he was truly humbled by the reaction he was getting on this inaugural gig here.

I saw him when he was an absolute nobody opening for Peter Frampton in Morristown, like 10 years ago. That dude shreds and knows his blues. Phish
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Soja
Alabama Shakes
Sharon Jones
The Beach Boys
Dispatch
Avett Brothers
Foster the People
Alice Cooper
Flogging Molly
As usual, Phish blew me away, as did RHCP. Alabama Shakes should be huge pretty soon as well, great and extremely talented band.

Radiohead - Mansfield MA
Field Mouse - Mercury Lounge, NYC
I Break Horses - Mercury Lounge, NYC
Radiohead - Newark NJ
Here's their performance of Idioteque that had some issues, but was still great. Love Thom's reaction.
Yeah im seeing Radiohead this friday in Montreal! Should be awesome!
I've seen them in 1997 for Ok Computer tour and then in 2002 i think for Amnesiac Tour which was outdoors and i hate outdoor shows! and then only one of my fav band could make me go see ANOTHER outdoor show which was in 2005 i believe for the Hail to the Thief tour and then i was really glad they decided to go for more intimate smaller venue tour in 2007 for the pre-In Rainbows tour and the last time they came to Montreal it was ANOTHER outdoor show which i decided not to go.
So very happy to see them INDOORS again!
Hard to know what we'll get as set lists change so much from show to show. one of the recent shows they had FOUR Ok Computer songs which i really hope we'll be as lucky!

^How is your hearing holding up? I could do maybe a show a week and even with that my ears are ringing and head is pounding for a bit of time afterwards. I see that you went to two shows in three days and these bands don't appear to be the quiet type.

I guess I should start posting in here since going to concerts is such a big part of my life. Here are some recent ones I have attended:
5/15 M83 w/ I Break Horses at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, TN
This show was amazing. M83 puts on such a fun show that you can lose your mind to.
5/16 Jack White w/ Alabama Shakes at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville
Legendary!
5/19 Greg Laswell w/ Elizabeth Ziman at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville
5/21 St. Vincent w/ Shearwater at The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville
This lady is one of the loves of my life and her performance did not disappoint. Amazing show from both bands.
6/7 Communion Nashville Launch Night featuring Trampled by Turtles, Robers Ellis, Michael Kiwanuka, Shovels & Rope, Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons, and Night Beds.
6/3 Joseph Arthur w/ Anderson East and Zach Broocke at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville
6/9 The Shins w/ The Antlers and Deep Sea Diver at Iroquois Amphitheatre in Louisville, KY
The Shins were amazing as I expected, and it was great being able to see The Antlers again. The only drawback to this show was the people talking loudly behind me during The Antlers and I wish The Antlers had been able to play longer.
6/12 Graffiti 6 In-Store performance at Grimey's New & Preloved Music in Nashville
This week I have Roger Waters, Of Montreal, Tenacious D, and Norah Jones. It's going to be a great week.

For the shows I remember to bring my ear plugs to (I keep a box in the glove box of my car), they are fine.
At the ones I forget, they ring for a little bit afterward. Not too bad.
The last time my hearing went completely out was Neurosis back in 2007. Lost hearing in one of my ears and it freaked me out.
This year, I forgot to bring ear plugs to the Church of Misery show and that was by far the loudest show I've been to this year. Felt like I dodged a bullet with my hearing.
Been going to a lot of shows as part of my New Year's Resolution. I love music and love going to shows, but realized over the years I let my friends dictate what shows I went to. There were even times I was talked out of going to certain shows. If I couldn't get one of them to go I usually wouldn't go. After giving it some thought, I wondered why. Now I don't care, I'm going to enjoy the music I like regardless if I roll with 5 people or enjoy shows on my own.

Got my Radiohead show on Friday the 15th! Was awesome!
Sure more OK Computer songs would of been nice (was only 2) it was still a great show!
Good thing i saw them before they went to Toronto and the stage collapsed! Poor dead worker and poor fans who missed out on a potential great show.

Saw the Cult this past Saturday at the Hollywood Palladium. A band I've always enjoyed, but somehow never got around to seeing them live until now. A great show, plenty of hits. The new tracks sounded very good, and Billy Duffy's Gretsch White Falcon is one of the best-looking guitars ever.

awesome, I'm seeing Lower Dens tomorrow night for the first time and cannot wait. I love both their albums and have been waiting for them to come through town.
I saw Weezer at the Mandalay Bay Beach venue on June 15th. Amazing show, my fourth time seeing Weezer, and the best! Great set and such an awesome place to see a show.
My friend I came with kept complaining about being tired because the show was running late. Also complaining about having to be up early (9am/11am is early?). So I suggested we leave because I honestly didn't want to do deal with any more complaining.
More reason why I should start going to shows on my own nowadays (been to a handful on my own this year)

Never get sick of Weezer.. Seen them a bunch of times....they have a different show everytime I've seen them. They were just in my area at the beginning of the month but the tickets have gotten way to expensive. Nothing will top the Memories tour and seeing Blue and Pinkerton.

Saw this bill the other night in Boston (Mansfield). Both bands were in great form, but I was disappointed with sound; it was poor enough that it really distracted from fully enjoying the show. (And I had decent seats, front row of the second section back.)

Roger Clyne three times this week, and Brendan Benson next week!
After seeing (and meeting both before/after the show - got pics & autographs) Brendan Benson front and center on the 28th in Chicago, we decided to take the kids to see him in Milwaukee on the 30th @ Summerfest (all ages show). Front and center again - plus got to meet & greet after the show - my 9-year-old got a signed setlist, and we got pics with him, as well as with Young Hines.
With Brendan Benson pre-show, Chicago:

The sound was pretty amazing. I was a bit disappointed that a huge set of speakers was blocking my view of the center screen since I was sitting in the nosebleeds. Thankfully that became pretty moot once the wall got built up! :)

I got box seats, straight back, little to the right. One of the projector boxes was blocking most of the circular screen at the top, didn't miss much. What a show, really hope he does another leg because I want to see it again.

Don't care much for Slipknot, but I would love to see Slayer, Anthrax, and Motorhead. Great bill
I saw Alice Cooper when he was in Raleigh. I guess I was a couple rows behind and to the right of Dubya.
It was good, but it was basically a 'greatest hits' type show. Not anywhere near as thematic or story oriented as Theater of Death. But when every song on the setlist is a greatest hit, that's not a bad thing.

This has been the greatest week.
On Saturday, I saw Wilco, The Avett Brothers, and Dr. Dog together. Wilco is an incredible machine at this point in their career. Perfect, tight. The Avetts are excellent but I prefer them at a more intimate venue.
Last night I saw Conor Oberst and Dawes. Conor played a long solo set with a dude who played xylophone, guitar, and piano. Then Dawes came out and backed Conor for like 5 songs. Incredible. I was in the third row, center. Best seats ever.
