I honestly don't know who to pick for either game. I'll go Pats and Giants because I can't imagine Flacco or Alex Smith in the Super Bowl but...

the Pats haven't beaten a team all season as good as the Ravens.

The Niners just won a shootout against a team that crushed the Giants a few weeks ago.

I'm rooting for the Ravens and Niners though... I would love to see ESPN spend a week hyping Alex Smith vs. Joe Flacco

The Pats haven't beaten a good team period. Hell, I saw the Redskins go toe to toe with the Pats a month ago. They're nothing special. If Sexy Rexy can play that well against them, I don't see why Flacco can't, lack of playoff pedigree or not.

That's what I'm rooting for too (at least until I put bets in) - if only to see the masses whine about it. But also because fuck NY and Boston.

Arpeggi

Because Flacco is garbage. Bottom 5 QB masquerading as an up and coming talent.

Red Dog
01-17-12, 01:38 PM
I think people stopped calling Flacco an "up and coming talent" 2 postseasons ago. But regardless, it would be garbage (Flacco) vs. garbage (Pats D) when the Ravens have the ball.

Their defense is nothing special. Their offense has Tom Brady. As for the Redskins game, they were just palming their head as the Redskins flailed away. Brady absolutely dissected the Eagles defense. Guy is unreal. But he can have an off day.

I gotta say I am nervous about the Giants. Eli can be crazy good at times, and they have some great receivers.

You gotta love the ESPN SportsNation poll. Only 8 states pick the Giants, the rest are picking the 49ers.

Of the 8 states, of course one is New York, another is New Jersey. Those are to be expected. Then the funny thing is most of Louisiana picks the Giants, too

Then Mass. picks the 49ers because they hate anything New York.

What a country.

I'm pulling for the Niners now. A: Because I was a fan of theirs as a kid, and B: I hate the Giants. Not for last week, but due to an obnoxious friend I used to have from NY.

The Niners are really the only team that I'm even interested in. I'd like to see a Harbaugh bowl, but I think it's unlikely the Ravens win.

The entire universe is going with Pats/Giants. Hopefully the Niners prove them wrong again this weekend. I mean, they have won 14 games and are playing at home. So it's not absurd to pick them. But since the 11-7 Giants beat the Packers at Green Bay, it automatically means San Fran has no shot at winning.

The entire media universe is spooging for a Giants-Patriots SB. I don't believe SF will be the pushover the media hopes they are. Keeping my fingers crossed for the Big Blue. I don't care who the AFC team is. Either way it would be a rematch.

Ah, isn't that convenient?

You made your pre-game boast. You virtually guaranteed victory AND came up with a self-imposed forfeit that you would pay if your team lost. Nobody prompted you to do that. Allegedly taking that photo and only showing it to your friends is a cop-out. And claiming that the folks here are douchebags - dude, what are you, a n00b? EVERYBODY here is a douchebag, you and me included.

Bottom line: You boasted. You obligated. You didn't follow through.

You've got a choice. Let me and the rest of the douchebags here harass you for the rest of your days (and you know we will!) .... or just man-up and get it over with.

Psst - we're actually getting more mileage out of this now that you're stonewalling. It's your choice how this plays out.

And in the late game...sooooo torn. I can't bring myself to cheer for NY. But assuming Pats win, I'd like another <caugh> good QB to go against. So that mean Eli. However, I really like the "underdog" of the 49ers. No one (including myself) thought they were for real. So I'l like to see them finish it out. Nice TD by the Ravens.

Flacco comes alive. He looked really good on that drive.

01-22-12, 03:09 PM
Flacco? Really?

Deftones
01-22-12, 03:09 PM
At least this isn't the blowout that people seemed to think it might be. Yet.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:13 PM
Probably a good timeout....Pats have been running down their throats and then go 5-wide.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:14 PM
Even a better timeout with 10.

NORML54601
01-22-12, 03:19 PM
Despite Gronkowski's record breaking season, I think Hernandez is the more athletic of the two. At least it looks that way to me in the Pats games I've seen.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:20 PM
Ravens bending not breaking again. Key now is to get this half clocked out...points or not. Get the D rested.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:23 PM
Oh man....too much air. Good pressure.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:29 PM
Huge 3rd down pickup.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:31 PM
Gotta say....Flacco is playing well. The rest of the offense, particularly the line, sucks today.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:32 PM
Pats saying surrender. -eek-

01-22-12, 03:32 PM

01-22-12, 03:35 PM
I can't understand why Harbaugh didn't use the two timeout, could have forced the Patriots to punt from their endzone.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:53 PM
That might be the play of the game. Ravens usually make that tackle.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 03:55 PM
Ravens do it again. Bend, no break. Great game.

chrisih8u
01-22-12, 04:02 PM
This is what I hate about tv. Kyle Arrington was out of the game 35 minutes ago. They just mentioned it for the first time. Why have sideline reporters?

Red Dog
01-22-12, 04:07 PM
Another pick up. Here we go.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 04:09 PM
Touchdown! Lets see the replay.

Red Dog
01-22-12, 04:12 PM
Pats will get the call. We can't have the lowly Ravens ahead in a critical game.

01-22-12, 04:33 PM

Ravens held him in check, relatively, as I expected. They ran the ball well though. You've missed a great game.
