Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Although Caroline (Candice Accola) is in no mood to celebrate her 18th birthday, Elena (Nina Dobrev), Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Matt (Zach Roerig) surprise her with a small party in an unusual location. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) disagree on the best way to handle Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and a reckless Stefan decides to test his theory by taking things to dangerous extremes. Bonnie is concerned when Elena tells her about Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) new plans. At a Founder's meeting, Alaric once again runs into Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto), who is in the middle of an argument with her ex-boyfriend, the medical examiner (guest star David Colin Smith). Tyler (Michael Trevino) refuses to go along with Klaus' latest demand, and is surprised when Klaus seems to accept his decision. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (#311).

Great episode

Really good stuff in this one. Stefan is fricking ruthless right now in his war against Klaus. when he sliced off that hybrid's head. That's the 2nd full decapitation scene I've seen in television this week.

Huge props to Nina Dobrev in that scene with Stefan in the car. She was amazing and really sold the fear and anger of that circumstance.

Good to see Caroline again. Fucking Tyler had to ruin her birthday by biting her and nearly killing her. I initially liked their pairing and they had amazing sexual chemistry, but Tyler's become a major douche bag since he's become Klaus's little bitch.

Torrey Devitto, the actress who plays Meredith, is actually Paul Wesley's real life girlfriend. I'm curious to see what her character will offer going forward.

I'm a little surprised this show seems to get forgotten each week. It's consistently good and there are alot of compelling storylines. I'm guessing the Thursday comedies are more popular because it's a lesser time commitment than watching the dramas night of or day after. But, your missing out letting the episodes build up or waiting days/weeks to catch up.

It was a good episode, the show seems to be heading into love triangle territory with Damon. I suspect many viewers DVR this show as it is heavily serialized. One could play a drinking game every time a character mentions the sire bond, that has become overplayed at this point.

Yeah the sire bond thing and Tyler is getting old. It's inevitable that Elena and Stefan will at some point get back together, but for the purposes of dramatic television, a perfect loving relationship gets boring fast and they need obstacles.

I'm guessing people in this forum probably like to watch this show in batches off the DVR (3-4 episodes in a row) as your suggesting and maybe that's why we aren't getting much weekly discussion lately. Ratings are down too, even though it's still The CW's highest rated show. I think Nielsen viewers are probably DVRing it and watching it in groups of 3-5 episodes in a row.

No mention of what a great character Klaus is becoming? His conversation with Caroline before he saved her was pretty cool.

Yeah it was a cool conversation but I was when he began it being all concern and such.

Great episode as always.
