Jeremiah Johnson--5/1/2012 from Warner
From blu-ray.com, announcement of Sydney Pollack's film coming in May:
"This summer, Warner Home Entertainment will bring Jeremiah Johnson to Blu-ray. Nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival, filmmaker Sydney Pollack's classic adventure tale stars Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) as the title character, a veteran of the Mexican War who leaves the military, heads west, and becomes a mountain man.
"Content with quietly living off the land, Johnson soon finds himself thrust into a series of ever-escalating hardships, both natural and human-motivated, though it is his feud with the local Crow Indians that elevates Johnson to legendary, almost mythic status.
"Warner has not yet announced the technical and supplementary specifications for the Blu-ray.
"Jeremiah Johnson is expected to street on May 1st."

Actually, I've never watched this all the way through. I will rectify that on BD. Hopefully Warner gives us a good transfer befitting a visually beautiful film like this.
Also, this is a friend's favorite movie, but I don't think she has a BD player. :/

This was the first DVD that I ever bought. So this bluray transfer better be up to par because I won't give up this Standard DVD so easily being that it was my first.

I was named after this film, or more accurately my parents were inspired to give me my name after viewing this film.

No, my name is Jeremy, but my parents watched the film and decided to name me that. It was inspired by the film.

Review is up on Bluray.com. It gets favorable marks. This is one of my all-time favorites, even holds sentimental value as I saw it in the theatre when first released back in 1972. I wanted to hold on to the standard disc because it was the first DVD that I ever bought. But i'm going to have to break my promise and get this bluray. Sometimes you just have t take one for the team, and this is it. I might just have to hold on to both versions , I don't like doing that. Usually when i upgrade I trade in the original. But I guess i'm going to have to have two versions of this movie. There's no turning back now.

Nice review by Ken Brown, a reviewer who is (IMO) usually on-target about PQ and doesn't easily dismiss flaws.
I'll be picking this up.
