LEGO obtained rights for the toy line, so there's definitely light at the end of the tunnel for what I always thought would be the most fun, though I've been really impressed with Potter, Batman, and Pirates in the meantime.

Online retailer ShopTo also had a listing for the game (with placeholder art) suggesting the game is due out in October, as can be seen via the screengrab below.
The page has since been taken down, but it’s there in Google’s cache.

Nice.. Really looking forward to this.
Once the books/tv show are done, I'd love me some Lego Game of Thrones.

It would be cool if this were more open-world / RPG style, but I'm sure it'll be in the same vein as the earlier games.

I will be on board, of course we will have to get through Batman 2 first. I need to pick up the Indy series so my son and I have something to play while I make him wait for the Lego price drop for Batman 2.

They tried that with Lego Universe and the game was shut down. I was wondering if one day they'll take all the content from the mmo and convert it to an offline single player/ co-op version.

Trailer for this just showed up on LEGO's facebook page. I didn't see it on youtube yet, or I would have supplied a link.

Looks great. I never thought I would have liked voice acting in the Lego games, but this and DC2 have changed my mind

Re: Hope for LEGO The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings?
I've never gotten into Lord of the Rings. I've always wanted to do it right by reading the books first and then watching the movies but I've always been too lazy to.
I'm in the same boat with Harry Potter and I put off playing those games until I found them for dirt cheap. I think I scored LHP 1 for free with one of those Amazon $10 preorder credits from Lego Pirates or Lego Clone Wars then I got LHP2 when Wal-Mart was selling it for like $30 the first week it was released.
With the LHP games I was thoroughly confused by the cut scenes and the rare story-based puzzles (I remember having absolutely no idea what the game meant whatsoever when it told me to summon Crookshanks to dig) and unfortunately I had some major surprises spoiled for me and I'm kinda reluctant to do the same with LLOTR.
But I'll probably still play through it without reading or watching them because I love these games.

I'm assuming the characters will earn xp and be able to level up?
Also i know this would never happen, but i think it would be cool if you could import characters from other Lego games. How awesome would it be to have Luke Skywalker or Harry Potter in Lego LOTR?

Re: Hope for LEGO The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings?
They had Indy and Han cross over in "Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga" and "Lego Indiana Jones" but that was an easy arrangement as they're both LucasArts titles.
They used to do interesting stuff like that, the best one was when "Lego Star Wars II" came out and you could unlock all your characters you unlocked in the first game. They've had opportunities to do that on recent games (Lego Indy II, Lego Clone Wars, Lego Harry Potter 2) but they simply haven't done I unfortunately.
They still do cool nerdy stuff though, Lego Batman had a lot of cool Easter egg characters and I'm half-expecting Lego Batman 2 to include movie versions as unlockables. In Lego Clone Wars you could unlock the battle-damaged Vader and Starkiller from The Force Unleashed.
