LEGO obtained rights for the toy line, so there's definitely light at the end of the tunnel for what I always thought would be the most fun, though I've been really impressed with Potter, Batman, and Pirates in the meantime.

Cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the actual LEGO sets more than the game.

Hope they have improved walking physics for this one!

They have, but the new engine they're using only allows the screen to scroll from the left to the right.

Online retailer ShopTo also had a listing for the game (with placeholder art) suggesting the game is due out in October, as can be seen via the screengrab below.

The page has since been taken down, but it’s there in Google’s cache (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:5ySYAAjOLKUJ:www.shopto.net/XBOX%2520360/VIDEO%2520GAMES/XB2LE25-LEGO%2520Lord%2520of%2520the%2520Rings.html+&cd=10&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us).

Nice.. Really looking forward to this.

Once the books/tv show are done, I'd love me some Lego Game of Thrones.

It would be cool if this were more open-world / RPG style, but I'm sure it'll be in the same vein as the earlier games.

On board for sure. However, I need to still get through Lego Pirates and Lego Harry Pt2 first (and possibly Lego Batman 2 once it comes down). Wow, starting to feel a little Legoed out.

I will be on board, of course we will have to get through Batman 2 first. I need to pick up the Indy series so my son and I have something to play while I make him wait for the Lego price drop for Batman 2.

I'm ready for them to change up the formula a bit.

They tried that with Lego Universe and the game was shut down. I was wondering if one day they'll take all the content from the mmo and convert it to an offline single player/ co-op version.

Trailer for this just showed up on LEGO's facebook page. I didn't see it on youtube yet, or I would have supplied a link.

Looks great. I never thought I would have liked voice acting in the Lego games, but this and DC2 have changed my mind

I've never gotten into Lord of the Rings. I've always wanted to do it right by reading the books first and then watching the movies but I've always been too lazy to.

I'm in the same boat with Harry Potter and I put off playing those games until I found them for dirt cheap. I think I scored LHP 1 for free with one of those Amazon $10 preorder credits from Lego Pirates or Lego Clone Wars then I got LHP2 when Wal-Mart was selling it for like $30 the first week it was released.

With the LHP games I was thoroughly confused by the cut scenes and the rare story-based puzzles (I remember having absolutely no idea what the game meant whatsoever when it told me to summon Crookshanks to dig) and unfortunately I had some major surprises spoiled for me and I'm kinda reluctant to do the same with LLOTR.

But I'll probably still play through it without reading or watching them because I love these games.

I'm assuming the characters will earn xp and be able to level up?

Also i know this would never happen, but i think it would be cool if you could import characters from other Lego games. How awesome would it be to have Luke Skywalker or Harry Potter in Lego LOTR?

They had Indy and Han cross over in "Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga" and "Lego Indiana Jones" but that was an easy arrangement as they're both LucasArts titles.

They used to do interesting stuff like that, the best one was when "Lego Star Wars II" came out and you could unlock all your characters you unlocked in the first game. They've had opportunities to do that on recent games (Lego Indy II, Lego Clone Wars, Lego Harry Potter 2) but they simply haven't done I unfortunately.

They still do cool nerdy stuff though, Lego Batman had a lot of cool Easter egg characters and I'm half-expecting Lego Batman 2 to include movie versions as unlockables. In Lego Clone Wars you could unlock the battle-damaged Vader and Starkiller from The Force Unleashed.

I know Lego is skittish about allowing adult-themed sets and games but man they could clean up if they did this.

That Shaun of the Dead Lego model that was up for consideration was awesome and I would have gladly plunked down a lot of cash for it.

I believe there is a GTA style game coming for WiiU only.

As for other Lego ideas--- Matrix please.

I was browsing in Amazon.com and noticed that the Lego Lord of the Rings will be released next week 11/13/12.
Amazon is having a promo of a $10 credit with a pre-order along with a code for Middle Earth characters download. Does anybody know which characters are available in this code or any other retailer exclusive for this game?

Anyone playing this? I am running into a pretty nasty glitch during the battle with the Uruk-hai after Boromir uses the Horn of Gondor. During the final(?) battle sequence using Boromir and Aragorn, after the Uruk-hai leader jumps down, he freezes shortly into the sword fight forcing a restart. Four times through the sequence and each time the exact same glitch even after a reboot.

Anyone have luck getting through?

Edit: Xbox 360

Edit 2: Cleared system cache and made it through. It seemed like something was still wrong, though, because instead of fighting like before, the Uruk-hai leader would just pick up the active character requiring a switch to the other character to attack causing him to drop inactive character and pick up active character. Repeated this until he was defeated.

That's a common boss-battle mechanic in these Lego games. It even prompts you to switch characters with button prompts.

I'm not seeing many reviews for this, did WB not send out screeners?

And for anyone who has played the game, is it good? Do they change up the formula at all?

Oh, I am very familiar with Lego games. This was different. Especially since when it froze the first four times, the battle went differently with the Uruk-hai engaging in a sword fight with prompts to hit X to block. That did not happen the time when it did not freeze - just picked up the character.

Anyway, another glitch just popped up. The playable area stretched horizontally while the graphic overlays stayed correct. You can see it best in the portrait in the corner stretched to an oval while the circle frame was fine. Reloading fixed it.

There is a item crafting system that is new and the open-world nature of the level progress is nice. I don't think the voices were sampled particularly well, but maybe it was the best possible when pulling from movies.

Not a lot of talk on this one. We just borrowed from a friend and this is by far and away the most complex lego game we've played. The open world is immense and some of the bricks are very difficult to get. The levels are good too, and I like how it doesn't point you towards the treasure chest items. You actually have to find them in the game. We've just passed 80% complete, but I think we've already logged more hours on this than the Batman 2 game.

I must have missed the announcement, but I'm pretty stoked for LEGO Hobbit. Coming to next gen as well. It sounds like it only covers the first 2 movies.

Yeah, I'm curious to see how they handle that with only one move being left out. DLC maybe? LEGO Harry Potter never got a complete release but LEGO Star Wars did.

Wow, 9 platforms: XOne, PS4, 360, PS3, Wii U, Windows, Mac, 3DS, PSVita. It's a Fellowship!

I wonder if that's a record for the most platforms for a simultaneous release.

LEGO Hobbit came out yesterday, was curious to see if anyone picked it up for PS4/XB1. Checking to see if they really added anything new since LEGO LOTR.
