I'm planning on making a multiboot thumb drive with a variety of rescue/utility images
Probably going to use this to make it http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/
I'm definitely leaning towards hiren's boot cd but want to know what other options are out there for free bootable rescue/utility images

Also going to but a linux live image or two on there too just to have the option of going into a full OS if needed.

No specific task in mind right now, I guess I'm looking for stuff along the lines of a memory test, file recovery, file system repair, disk imaging (both creating and restoring from) etc. pretty much anything useful
I just picked up a few large thumb drives so I have plenty of space to use.

thanks

I find the old reliable BART PE disk to be useful

This flavor of it is a little easier to build/make work correctly

these forums are helpful

I have found that I can 'tune' just about any utility to run correctly in BART PE if I put my mind to it. Plenty of links on the forums to info and other's work to help you out

Until you have a specific task in mind, generic tools are all you can create.

ubcd is nice, but I prefer to get the most recent version of the utility programs.

New tool from Microsoft looks cool - Defender Offline, it can boot from usb or cd and scan for malware.
