Interesting three way battle for Drama Series. Game of Thrones has to win, doesn't it?
And here's hoping Jeremy Irons wins Actor for The Borgias.
Wouldn't mind seeing Mireille Enos get an award either.

No Network Dramas, Four first year nominees.
If they decide to not to do a 2 peat with Boardwalk, Game of THrones has a great shot.

Unless they want to make Boardwalk a winner 2 years in a row, it will be minor shock for GoT not to win.

I like New Girl, but even I know that should've been Happy Endings or Parks & Rec up there. Really? I'll never understand how something could potentially win Best Series with on airing half of it's shows or less. (Or you know...replace Episodes entirely. Yikes.)
No Community bums me out too, but not a surprise at all. Good for American Horror Story and Homeland. All deserved.

Um, yeah, Kelly Macdonald is without a doubt a lead actresss on Boardwalk Empire. And shame on them for nominating American Horror Story and Boss over Breaking Bad. And don't even get me started o nthe comedy categories. New Girl and Enlightened. The 2 new worst shows of the season that I tried to start watching. Where the hell is Eastbound and Down?

Just Found out that the Foreign Press also gets to vote on the winners, Game of Thrones has done well overseas.

I actually like AHS, it's trashy and over the top but a ton of fun. I respect the production values of Boardwalk Empire but still don't like the show, Game of Thrones and Homeland are the "hot" show right now. Boss is critically acclaimed, but I haven't seen it.
Honestly, I'm more surprised by Boss than AHS in this case. The Globes generally don't like gritty which Boss kind of is. AHS plays out more like a mini-series, which is a rarity in US television (ie - they started off with a ton of mysteries and resolved almost every one of them, and the finale isn't until next week -- unlike most shows that would span every mystery into its own overlong episode) which probably helped.
That said, from what I recall BB has never been a Golden Globe favorite, it has only 1 nomination and that was last year for Bryan Cranston. Steve Buscemi won. So while it deserves to be there (best show on TV), it isn't surprising that it isn't there.
I think New Girl is much funnier than Happy Endings which is hugely hit or miss with me, no matter Modern Family has that one on lock down. Rather The League or Always Sunny be up there.
The HFPA has a generally quirky taste. Angelina Jolie's directorial debut is nominated for Best Foreign Language pic.
It doesn't mean anything, but Stephen King has Breaking Bad listed as his #1 of 2011 (includes music, movies and tv), Slant Magazine has it at #2 behind Louie, Time has it as #3 behind #2 Parks and Rec and #1 Louie. #1 on The New Yorker. #1 in New York Magazine. #1 on Canada.com. As much as I like AHS I have to agree that it shouldn't be there over Breaking Bad.
Wouldn't mind seeing Homeland sweep Best Series, Best Actor and Best Actress.

I don't agree with everything on the list, but it isn't so totally bizarre that I cannot see why on earth the nominations were made. Ok, maybe Mireille Enos for "The Killing" seems bizarre but that's just one head scratcher.
Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story" was who I most wanted to see nominated. She's always been a great actress, but she's kicking it up a notch on this for for even someone of her stature. An amazing performance.

Do people still take the GGs seriously? It's about nominating hot actors/actresses so they show up at the GG ceremony, or nominating "hot" shows with more sizzle than merit to attract eyeballs to their ceremony.

Well Many use GG as a pre-cursor for odds making on the Oscars.
