im sure Dicaprio got a nomination because we all know how the Foreign Press loves to have stars at the Globes deserving or not

I think his performance has been talked about as the one highlight of the film. He's the best actor working today, imo. So I have no problem of him being nominated.

Glad to see the multiple nominations for Moneyball, which is about the only "Oscar" type film I've seen.
Despite being left off, I still think Melissa McCarthy will get a nomination for Bridesmaids. Her SAG nomination will help. Glad to see Albert Brooks nominated. Would have liked to see Jonah Hill in there, although he also picked up a SAG nom.
Best Actor has a ton of star power. I could see those being the Oscar nominees as well, except for Gosling being replaced by Jean Dujardin.

Would've liked to have seen more recognition for Drive though knew it was a long-shot. Good to see Albert Brooks get a nom though.

Where the fuck is " think you can wait " by the National for Win/Win?
And great job nominating W.E. for score (Abel Korzeniowski ) over Chemical Brothers for Hanna
What a lame predictable list for a bunch of meh movies. Wheres the love for The Tree of Life, Win/Win?

The only thing that makes me laugh is Jonah Hill has a shot as being an Oscar nominee (SAG, GG nominations so far)

I haven't seen many of these films, but at least on paper, not many are all that enticing to me. Sort of reminds me of 2008 when underwhelming movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, and The Reader had multiple nominations.

Yeah, Transformers 3 was seriously shitty.
Pretty weak year in general.

Pretty ho hum year for movies I guess. There were some decent crowd pleasing Summer flicks (Capt. America, Super 8, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) but nothing really awards worthy.
Looks like it could be a pretty good year for George Clooney and Steven Spielberg though.

of the Foreign Language Film noms, I've only seen two of them. I've read that 'A Separation' is the one with the highest likelihood of winning but I thought 'The Kid with A Bike' was excellent.

Are we skipping over the "Hollywood Foreign Press are a bunch of wankers who want famous people to come to their party" post, or is that just held to be self-evident by now?

I love these nominations. It is a nice tidy list of films I should avoid. I printed it out to put in the stack with all the music publications year end lists.

I can easily see Foreign Film going to 'In the Land of Blood and Honey'. It's getting good reviews plus the HFPA would just love to put Angelina Jolie up there on the stage accepting the award. They nominated her for 'The Tourist'!!!

Bridesmaids with TWO major noms? Gimme a fucking break.
And the mere fact that Drive isn't nominated for Best Pic, nor Refn for director, is weak.

I didn't know My Week with Marilyn was a comedy.
I'm not understanding the love for Midnight in Paris. I can't get over how annoying Owen Wilson is.

Wow. No Best Picture nominations for Drive, Melancholia or Take Shelter. I also didn't care for The Tree of Life but I would've at least had some respect for them if they nominated it.
That's total crap.

Daniel Day-Lewis is better than LD. DiCaprio still isn't to that level of quality. Fassbender is also better too.
